I re-watched seasons 1-3 of High school DxD in anticipation of S4, after finishing them and starting on S4 I was more than a little shocked to find the visual change so.. dramatic and I don't mean that in a good way. I legitimately don't think I can watch this new season because it's just so ugly in comparison to the originals, I get that it's a different animation studio but.. no, I really can't defend it, not cool at all.

In overlord, I love the tangent/side characters. It's really unusual for anime to spend episodes dedicated to characters that aren't the focus of the show, and it really is something.

On ep 21 of Saiki Kusuo s2 and I'm really digging the new female they added this season. Aiura should end up with Saiki. I love gyarus with a heart of gold.

Technically, it's in anime style so I guess I should mention that started rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The last time I watched it all the way through was way back when it first aired, and that was back in 2005.

I tried watching Avatar The Last Airbender but the color schemes were bleeding blue and pee colors. I don't remember the animation looking so washed out though I guess they improved it after the first season.

Guess I'm just spoiled by how pretty the Korra animation is, even if the first two seasons were pretty bad.

I'm watching the Badminton and Volleyball anime right now. Good looking chicks =P

They added at least 2 new girls this season, since you also had that freshman. Looking forward to binging the second half of s2.

tbh, loved TLA but got in right at the end. Can't remember *how* watched the show in its entirety, but I'm pretty sure the first episode I watched was the "Ember Island Players" which was played immediately following the 2-part series finale.

She shows up, but not as much as Aiura, or I care about Aiura and didn't notice the other one as much lol.

That's really cool about Horikoshi. I doubt many creators get to see just how much of an impact their work has to people overseas.

I've been watching Btooom and After the Rain. Like them both, especially the latter. In several ways I can relate to both characters; in fact for a while when I started working at this job, I kind of had a thing for my manager. It was only an eight year difference and I never acted on it, but the feeling mostly faded away over time.

Nah. Have you seen it before. If so, watching it without the filler might not be a bad idea. If you've never seen it, skipping fillers or not is at your discretion.

I'm starting on Darling in the Franxx next. Hopefully I like it. I find mecha anime to annoy me quite often.

Well if you dislike Mecha anime, you'll like darling since the mech fights are more like short breaks between character Development and plot advancement

I don't hate mecha anime, I just really prefer mechs that are mechanical and not some weird supernatural thing. Though, I can like those kinds too, but I prefer the mechanical kind. My go to example, is the mechs they have in the 3rd Matrix movie are what I prefer, though, they can be more complicated and larger.

Eva is barely a mecha show though. Their mechs are just a way to create crisis and conflict in the main characters lives. Ironically eva's mechs are a lot more grounded in their abilities than most mechs even in real robot mecha.

Similarly darling in the franxx is also barely a mecha show. It's actually got a lot of similarities with eva.

Yep. That and it just wasn't really my thing; the plot was a little too out there for my taste. I watched the whole show but can't really say I particularly enjoyed it.

No matter what's going on in your life, there's a point where you have to just say "fuck it" and go save the world because that's your freaking job. Felt like Shinji ran away every other episode.

The constant rejection -- and the shit she puts up with for a chance to be close to him -- is what makes her fun.

I just finished reading Uwagaki. I have to admit, it was fantastically written. Even with the unrealistic premise, the characters all felt natural and didn't fall into any common clichs of the genre, and despite being in competition they didn't even bear any ill will toward one another. Solid pacing up until the end, which felt just a little rushed and could have used just one more chapter to build up to the end.

Also, while I was wondering how "Again!!" suddenly got an English release despite not being relevant or particularly popular, I noticed another series by the same author also got localized; Moteki. It's about a guy just turning 30 who has had very little luck with women, who suddenly seems to fall somewhat into a period of "moteki," increased romantic popularity, when he's contacted randomly from several women from his past. Despite what it sounds like it's not a typical harem; it's very realistic and character-focused. The protagonist is also not as lame or clichd as you'd expect of the premise; he has ups and downs and makes real effort, but never seems to be able to seal the deal even during his moteki. Highly recommended; I just started reading and I'm hooked.

The Shin Megami Tensei mobage (Liberation Dx2) is also a thing now. Not a game for low-end phones; my LG can barely manage its lowest settings.
