...that probably isnt worth money. its also ratty, but its a false binary and a repeater and matches my record for most digits in a serial which is 6. never found seven of a kind or a full solid of 8

series 2009 $1 E32333323H

Well, gonna cash in this 300(298 actually) and take out 200 in ones today.

Another cool one I will keep from series 2013 is A 00325000*

from a 3.2 million print run but it looks cool being surrounded by zeroes.

Hey, I found a 1965 dime. It looks like it's made out of a different material than more recent dimes .

Thoughts?

No its a regular dime. 1964 dimes(and prior) are made with 90% silver.

the 1965 dimes can look weird, and i dont know what it is, but they are copper/nickel clad.

I started reading a little bit about 1965 dimes and at a glance there were some shenanigans where the government was blaming coin collectors for rising silver prices and took the mint sign off coins for a while to try to devalue them or something. Funny stuff.

The average value I saw for those dimes was twwoooo dollars!

yeah they did temporarily suspend mint marks in the mid 60s, to give collectors less of an incentive to collect(since silver coins were being hoarded by collectors because the base material > face value), because certain coins with certain mintmarks are highly valuable(for example a 1909 VDB penny is worth 5-10 dollars, a 1909 S minted VDB is worth several hundred to several thousand)

Coin collecting is good but i imagine not so good for the mint who makes a certain number of coins for a reason, the more that get hoarded and pulled out of circulation is bad. I guess.

The most valuable thing I have so far, and thats not taking into account coins I might have missed because I didnt have the proper equipment to check for small and obscure varieties such as a 1992 close AM penny(less than a millimeter in space in the word "america" between the A and M is the difference between over a thousand bucks or one cent), is a 2009 A $100 bill, serial number LD00005269*

Its a star note from a run of only 320,000 notes, coupled with the fact the serial number is fairly low. I believe I could sell it on ebay for $200-250, but i dont know.

Always gotta be on the lookout for star notes as you can score some big money. Some one dollar bills come from insanely rare runs of only 32,000 notes, and as such command a premium

Do you get the same satisfaction or interest in serial numbers in other items like televisions or watches?

I get more satisfaction from dollar hunting because its free. I never lose money. I either keep a bill and it still has face value or i return it to the bank.

Plus its really difficult to find the valuable bills so it keeps me enthralled like finding the dutchmans lost gold or other treasure hunting.

Lots of significant Jan 13th births, but none in 2001 (as far as Wikipedia knows). Could be someone who hasn't become famous yet.
