Yeah it can be spent without regret.

Nice though you know about the star notes. You can go to that website and input the serial number(with first letter), denomination, and series(year) on any star note 1980 and up. If its rare it depends on condition to determine how much it is worth. Im not too knowledgeable on value, but if yours came from the 128,000 run in the link I have, face +100 bucks wouldnt be out of the question, in that condition(which i'd say informally is average/above avg)

Has three things going for it:

serial number is low(5,269/99mil)
Low print run(320,000 notes)
low number of total notes in that star series(960,000)

I wanna say I could sell it for 200 easily, but i havent tried yet.

So yeah, definitely be on the lookout for star notes. about 1-2 bills per every hundred bills is a star note(all denominations/series(years)), and its like playing the free lottery by inputting the data in mycurrencycollection to check its rarity. if its rare set it aside, it never loses value below face, if it isnt, spend it.

Ive heard about 1 our of every 20 star notes you see will be rarer, but i dont know. the past 8 billion star notes ive checked it seems like all came from print runs of 3.2million

My dad used to talk about Star notes all the time and always asked me to look through my shit for them.

I'm about to have 80 100s in my hands on Monday (dude better bring 100s ) I'll let you know if any are cool.

Okay, well there are a ton of star notes in the 2009A series of hundreds. I'd actually be surprised if you didnt see a couple at least.

Really, if you were wanting to search your currency, you wouldn't want hundreds. the lower the denom the more chances of scoring big(which, to let me clarify is well below 0.1% of bills), although yes for handling a large sum of money youd want all hundreds.

So, for star notes just input the data into

and itll tell you if its rare. anything above a million can be spent without regret.

as far as serial numbers, here are some fancy ones to look out for, worth over their face value and in some cases, many times

Then look at the year, since it could be all hundreds you can find older bills easily in the hundreds. Age and condition matter when selling old currency. My cutoff is the year 2000 or so, though it has to be in good condition. i'd say 1960s and before is where you can make a premium just for having it even if its ratty

However my ideas of value arent concrete. I dont do a lot of ebay auction checking, but thats the best place to find out if you have a valuable bill. look and see what similar bills have sold for either on ebay or tradition auction.

not necessarily afraid of other people, but maybe my wallet accidentally falls out of my pocket, or something similar happens.

the most I've carried with me is a $2,500 cashiers check to buy a car with. Even then I only held on to it for about 20 mins before I gave it to the guy.
