My current phone is an iPhone 6, I think. Might be a 7. It's broken, and I have a "free" upgrade from my provider.

I don't mind the iPhone, but I'm a little put off by the battery shenanigans they pulled last year. I don't care that Apple restricts their devices, or that Android is more of an open platform. That seems to come up a lot in these discussions. For what I use it for, iPhones are fine, but I'm open to something else if it's better. Not sure what's out there right now.

What I care about/use most is the browser and the camera. If the phone has a dynamite camera, that alone might be enough to sell me. I'd like a phone that performs well, and takes good pics. And has good storage space. I don't like streaming music so I usually load up my phone with music and photos.

What do ya'll use?

Droid Turbo

Almost 4 years old at this point but gets the job done. When I do upgrade I will probably get the latest Z series or whatever Motorola has at the time.

I don't. Have no need for one and won't pay hundreds a month just because everyone else is. You're right to be suspicious of Apple though.

All those damn fees and gimmicks add up. It ain't worth it. Nothing is truly unlimited anyway.

except no, they don't.

there is not one person in the entire world who is paying several hundred dollars for a phone plan.

prove me wrong.

You could offer something too ya know. I don't own one so how am I going to provide a bill? By several I mean $100-$200 give or take so perhaps you prefer 'couple hundred' instead. Whatever.

My bill is $84 WITH all of the fees and other crap. And if anything I pay way more then most people. Even my father pays something like $45 a month.

It almost sounds like you are getting your information from like 10 years ago when smartphone plans cost an arm and a leg.

Yeah sorry DPsx7, but cell phones aren't anywhere near as much as you're claiming even when you choose to incorporate the cost into your monthly bill. Helly and Dikitain are right. My bill is something like $110 a month and that's for TWO phones - mine and my wife's. That's including paying for service and fees.

I think you save money in the long run if you buy the phone out right, but my wife seems to like the monthly payment plan so I go along with what she wants.

I pay $7 a month because I live in the right part of the US and I'm smart enough to use prepaid.

My smartphone cost $150, my first one cost $40. The cheaper one worked just fine.

@TC

Just make sure you get an SD card slot android with a headphone jack, maybe NFC if you want to use it for paying. These days it's all about finding phones that aren't botched.
