I suddenly have 3 relics for Braska when I had 0 2 days ago. Course none of them are very good and I have no desire to use Braska but you know. Lion's one of the weaker USBs but it's an Ultra in a realm with a small relic pool so I won't complain I guess. Related I now have a complete Lion entirely from lucky draws. Goes well with my complete Curilla entirely from lucky draws <_<

Since getting Orlandu's USB, managed to make Shadow Dragon my first 3* magicite sub20 (19.20). Sucks that the opening is holy/dark, and not holy/dark/earth lol, though I'll likely still bring him to Hydra for doublecast earth sabres.

Going to give Golem a shot with a physical party, highlighted by Cloud and Bartz. Golem, Hydra, and Mist Dragon are the only 3 I've yet to sub30. Both Hydra and MD were missing solid secondary DPS sources, which Orlandu now fills, and Golem's anti-physical approach was being annoying, though I think I have a shot at it now with Cloud USB 1 and 2 and Bartz USB.

Improved Golem time from 39.93 to 35.29. Decent start, think I can get it to under 30 still. Having to give OK dispel and protectga is annoying since then he's basically useless.

I'm torn on doing another B4 pull (I could get up to 50 mythril before tonight since I haven't done the 20 mythril summer gift dungeon yet). Like you I also have 3/5 of the 6*, but I do like a lot of the undercard on the banner and the two left for me are two of the big ones (Rikku Chain and Tidus AOSB).

I kinda feel like waiting till an FFX banner down the line that features Rikku Chain and/or Tidus AOSB is smarter.

And yeah honestly Tidus is worth a dive with just the CSB imo. Other stuff is just gravy.

That was pretty anticlimactic. The 100 gem had me hopeful and then no more discos in 4 pulls. I'm down to my last 50 mythril, not sure what to do. There are only 5 things left on the banner, but 3 are the ones I wanted most: Garnet CSB, Tifa USB, Ashe ASB, and then Garnet and Tifa LMs.

I now have both of Garnet's LMRs from 100 gems. And no soul breaks for her aside from that ancient Burst from the acolyte archive draw (cause I've never drawn for her). Pretty dumb.

I'd just use the last 50 mythril personally. I've had luck turn around often on my 5th draw on a banner! You still have a lot of high value stuff you want from the banner and you never know when you'll get a pull like I got on the FFIV banner (coincidentally was my 5th draw on the banner!) yesterday.

I mean unless Tifa Ashe Glint and Garnet BSB were things you wanted a decent amount you're not too much worse off than you were going in.

Bartz AOSB banner at the end of the month is the next hyped banner, since it's basically tailor made for Quetzalcoatl, one of the first *5 magicite. I'm hoping I can muster up 3 pulls by then and hopefully get my due of luck. The fest left me really salty.

OK pUSB+LMR, and a pretty solid spread of quality relics for all elements has still allowed me to sub 30 all 4* magicites, so I'm doing pretty well for myself, even without chains.

I just feel like that may not cut it anymore against the 5*s.

Despite getting nothing I actually used on the lighting banner (unless you count +10 magic for Ashe), I was able to sub 30 Kraken for the first time thanks to... Quina. 22.86 on my first try even with Lightning getting blinded and whiffing her last 2 Thundering Quadstrikes. So I guess that's something, 8/8 sub-30 now. Quina and Terra were the two characters that really improved for me thanks to this fest.

Beat Fellstar Diamond and Ruby Weapon. Ugh these fights are such a slog. It might be my fault for relying on Alphinaud and Raines bursts for DPS but I used the Alphinaud "stunlock" trick on Diamond Weapon by using his command 1 with his LM2 and blood of the summoner RM which if they dual/triplecast it opens the core quick which leaves Diamond charging his laser, which gives plenty of time for Shelke to entrust Selphie for her ultra/super so Diamond wasn't hard just tedious.

Ruby Weapon was also bleh, used Rosa instead of Selphie for her blink and wrath. Had to kill Shelke after she gave some meter to Alph so it took even longer than Diamond, OK got sucked out of hones so he had to use his burst commands as well.

Ruby's the only one i've fought so far. i was able to beat it going full ability double, with Orlandu/Vivi/Celes. i think i got really lucky.

I'm weird in that I have 3 chains (all gen 1) but only one (Locke's) was attained from a banner where I was drawing on a banner with a chain. I miraculously 100 gemmed the two others (Snow and Seymour). Not for lack of trying though. Put a ton of draws into Tidus's chain, some into Rikku's, some into Zack's. Went totally empty.

Speaking of chains I vaguely want to give one draw to the FF1 banner before it disappears, but despite liking most of the relics on it it seems like a mistake since I have a pretty damn stacked Paladin Cecil now and Warrior of Light's niche isn't really that different. Seems smarter to save for the Seph banner.

Beat Ultima and Sapphire Weapon today. Ultima sucked really hard especially with that stupid Ultimate Bolt ball that causes paralyze, fuck that thing! Even if it's only 18% chance he spams it frequently. Bring Affliction Break because astra is going to go quick since he also uses attacks that interrupt and sap. His stats and break resistance is lower than the other weapons but since he resists all elements 90% you're stuck with non elemental. Thankfully Vaan is still the man here, also actually made use of Squall's Ultra since it seemed like using quickcast Flare Strikes with that chase was more efficient than having to rejunction on his BSB2 in the later half of the fight.

Sapphire was refreshingly fun in comparison, used my sub30 Tiamat team except I swapped Shelke for Selphie, he was more bulky but his damage wasn't anywhere near as bad as Tiamat, just have to watch out for the dispels but since you don't need protectga in this fight since all of his physical attacks are piercing I had Onion Knight equip Hastaga instead.

Now that just leaves Emerald Weapon... oh boy...

So I fought Emerald Weapon today and my god this boss is cheap as hell, completely diffrent league from the other weapons. He's like Tiamat if he was stupid from the start, drained your hones, causes sap on his attacks even though he hits hard that you need last stand AND has 50% chance of countering with a piercing 2000 damage attack. I have to keep entrusting Selphie just to stay alive, I only got around to 70% when I started to run out of hones and he was attacking twice a turn. Doubt I could have finished him with Terra's BSB1 commands.

Beat this fucker finally, RNGesus may have not smiled on me during the fest, but I got super lucky with doublecasts (especially with Vali on the eyes) Can you guys believe I did it without Terra's OSB/Ather? Had to rely on USB entries in the later stages of the fight.

welp. after 3 years they finally caught me on the hook and reeled me in. got nothing again with my last mythril and did some gem pulls. and by some i mean 5x11. i got both AOSBs, Ashe's LMR, Tifa's glint and a bunch of dupes. no chain, no Tifa USB, not even Tifa LMR or Maria BSB. at least i have an 8* lightning boost sword for Ashe i guess?

i'm not even mad, but i do feel kinda gross. like i'm some animal and not a person for falling for that.

5x11 that's crazy.

I had two moments in the game where I bought some gems for actual banner pulls. Was only 2-3 pulls each time. But I always got kinda lucky (did it for Dark Cecil's DARK SWORD banner and for Tidus's Swiftform Shield banner). I felt kinda gross both times but I actually got decent stuff both times-- but both times I felt like it wasn't worth it in spite of this.

This is why I pretty much only use gems for 100 gem pulls, dream selects, and occasional lucky pulls now. If I expect nothing (or have 100% rate on getting something of value for the pull in the case of dream selects) it feels more like I'm just supporting the game a little. Also helps that these are things where spamming draws is literally impossible. So yeah that'd be my advice in the future-- even when you get most of the stuff you want you don't feel good about it so don't do it.

Random asides:

1. Squall still does 99999x3 drain strength on him if the chain is at 99 (doable with a modest amount of luck on dualcasts).

2. For my first few runs I actually had Squall's weapon at like level 10 because I'm an idiot and had planned to full augment it so was using a lot of augmenting for weapon EXP but got distracted mid upgrades. He does more like 6500x4 to start and 7500x4 when double en-ice is up now. Pretty good! Also makes drain strength matter even less on him since he 9999x4 caps even earlier on in the ice chain even with drain strength on him-- hell it matters on Rikku the most really now. Not that she does massive damage but I have Rinoa's ice boomerang on her so she does like 12k per attack early in the chain. It matters!

Stuff like Orlandeau's OSB debut banner taught me to be more careful about doing gems pulls, went Mythril broke chasing it, and then I spent 30 bucks just to get a crummy 1/11 Healing Rod. Maybe sometimes I'll use the last of the mythril with gems to do one last pull but wasting the full 30 on dupe/garbage relics sucks hard so I stopped.

This banner is tempting especially now that I'm near 100 mythril again but Bartz' stuff will be better in the long run because of the multiple elements he covers, and I need a earth chain for Quetzalcoatl anyway.

i mean it'll be nice only having to chase Tifa in one future banner instead of two, and having a second earth glove for Galuf or Yuffie, but not $120 nice.

This is my exact sentiment, the one time I broke down and paid full price for a draw I went 1/11 dupe and ended up ragequitting for almost a month. I'm still salty when I stop to think about it. If pulls were more reasonably priced I think I would have gotten sucked in hard early on, but $30 is just too damn much.

Honestly if they just let you buy any item for $30 like in the selection draw I would have spent hundreds if not thousands by now. The gacha is just such a bad deal it keeps them from getting (more of) my money.

Yeah infinite selection draws I would've paid like hundreds more dollars into this game. Much of which would've been paid into long obsolete items at this point.

But the craziest of whales would've paid a ton less so it's hard to say how much money they're really losing. I imagine they have a decent idea with how popular selection draws are and how many people do all of them or all of a type.

Did all of the Weapons today. Most of em were fairly straightforward. Managed to do the first guy despite no holy/water chain but he did kinda pander to a strong Rydia.

Last one was really tough but ultimately the solution was to just power through his fire resist and use my fire team. Edgar can get him up to triple imperil by himself and once that's up he takes quite a bit from fire. Also the fire chain works with Sabin's Fire/Non-Elemental USB and follow-up well enough even when Triple Imperil isn't up.

Came damn close to his final shadow flare wiping me though. Thank goodness for Minwu's bubble being up. Sabin and Locke survived both at critical HP.

But yeah fun bosses. I liked Ruby the most probably. Probably cause Dark Cecil was OP as hell for him. In fact I did a few tries where I was trying to run without a healer and just using a bunch of self heals and I was able to reliably half kill him with Cecil alone (the whole party sometimes got wiped at the beginning if I was unlucky with his AOE spray after Fellstar Ultima)

Oh wow, I hoped OK's LM would let me squeak a sub30 but shave off 11 seconds?



I guess having a level 99 Hades also helps but still wow, tore through her quick to the counter phase and after Raines and Kuja's OSBs it basically was an inevitable death for her once Kuja's Ultima goes off.

7/8, just Hades left, maybe I can do it before the keystones go away if I can get a level 99 Evare.

I'd have considered drawing on it if Ultimecia had Valvalis tier relics instead of literally an OSB in 2018. Like I think Valvalis and Ultimecia have a lot of Style. I'd rather run a mage comp for wind just for novelty's sake

People are probably saving up for either the Tactics (for the Torment 2.0 Boss) or FFV (Quetzalcoatl and the torment) These are decent relics but the need for ice, dark and wind stuff is in a grey area where most of us can beat the *4 magicite now and the wind, holy and earth *5 magicite haven't even come in Japan yet. Ultimecia is also kind of a dud character at the moment due to her lack of USB, which is a shame since she has a great skillset and good legend dive.

i'm not surprised at all, considering the next VIII event isn't far away and its banner 1 is a strict upgrade

now i might have thought about banner 2 this event if i had any mythril. Laguna's USB is his best relic for the torment, and Rinoa's USB1 might be better than her brave USB, and is an ice boosting magic weapon at least (i don't know if her brave is). i also still don't have a single instant last stand, though Selphie's USB2 is probably better for the torment.
