ok i guess it's input time.

The gym is up next and the next route is blocked off. In the Dreamyard there is a guy trying to pass off a water monkey but he gives you the choice of accepting it.

My question is, should I be forced to accept it and have that count as my encounter for Dreamyard OR because it was offered, do you think it is acceptable to hold off getting a Dreamyard Pokemon until I have access to the grass for a proper encounter?

I don't really want a monkey so...

Some people accept gift Pokemon as extra Pokemon, calling them "static encounters". You could implement that rule so you can receive those Pokemon and get your normal encounter for that area.

Ooooor just ignore them, and focus on wild encounters.

so because of the scaling experience in BW, i've realized grinding is incredibly inefficient where i'm at so i probably won't do too much of that. i normally hate grinding anyway but it would have been nice to be safer for the FIRST GYM. I normally hate grinding anyway and would usually just fight the leader/E4 over and over through fainting to get the exp but obviously can't do that.

i'll probably box Raka for this fight and just hopefully just sweep with Kira.

it would be Lv. 10 and 11 so far against Lv. 12/14...

and it could get ugly because i know they have Work Up.

ok i remembered the levels wrong.

Blue is level 11, Kira is level 12.

They both have same attack at 20 but Kira is slightly faster at 19 > 15. They both know Bite and Tackle. Kira has higher defense at 18 > 14.

Okay so let's say I start Kira. If I have to switch because her health goes low, there is less of a chance that Blue can take the hit and still be healthy enough to finish things because he has worse defense. So in that case, maybe starting Blue would be better. But in that same situation with Blue, if he has to switch out because of low health, it might be putting Kira's life in jeopardy because either taking the incoming hit or giving the opponent a chance to Work Up could mean the end. So in that case, maybe the better move is to just start Kira and hope we can sweep without switching.

At any point if they get two Work Ups and can attack, I think it would be over for me. I think both the Leader's Pokemon are faster than mine too.

Were forced to go check the Trainers School for this punk gym leader. While were there, we run into Cheren, beat him up and steal his berries. He wont get a chance to betray us like Bianca did, thats for sure.

On the way out, Im stopped by the gym leader. Only he just uses the time to find out everything about Raka! This green-haired motherfucker scouted me! He has the intel! Wed be walking right into a trap if Raka went into that gym!

Its too dangerous, Raka. Im going to have to ask you to stay behind. Blue and Kira, its time to step up!

Walk into the gym and the guy by the door gives me a Fresh Water. Poisoned no doubt.

yep. i posted my thoughts and plans previously in a post. but all those extended moments where things weren't happening on screen i was internally thinking about what was going on and what i was going to do. i just couldn't get the words out when the recording started. and it's not like i can redo anything because it's one-take.

i'm still at the stage where you're not used to hearing your own voice and i just hate it blaaaaaargh

I was a monkey for a Nuzlocke way back in the day and it actually ended up being quite the rollercoaster of development and storytelling.....but I think that was a rare exception haha I probably shouldnt be a monkey (or want anyone to be a monkey)

well i've played like 10 minutes since the last update so there's not a lot to go on other than getting the TM for Rock Smash.

Lenora has Herdier and Watchhog (Lv. 20). So I can take two Pokemon with me. Kira is the strongest with the best moveset right now so definitely taking her. Now the question is who the other one is going to be. Probably either Blue for general support or Bane for Yawn.

Leaning towards just using the same strategy as before. Lead with Kira and hopefully sweep to minimize chance of losses. Now that I've got Work Up, setting up for a sweep becomes more likely. I guess the question is whether it can last enough to get two Work Ups off. No guarantees about speed either. Starting Bane for Yawn and then switching to Kira to set up and sweep would be ideal EXCEPT Herdier and Watchhog for sure know Bite which is super effective against Bane and he might die before the Yawn goes off. Kira is also the only one that could learn Rock Smash. I thought for sure Patrat could learn it but no.

Or if the Pinwheel Forest encounter is a fighting type, I can take that since whoever it is could take more of a hit than anyone else right now which would make switching more viable. damn. if mnk had ended up being a Roggenrola since there was a 50% chance, I would have for sure used it.

Munna could also be fun due to Yawn shenanigans.

yeah the potential problem with that is Bane is slow as shit and pretty weak defensively and both of Lenora's Pokemon know Bite which is super effective. Both my Lillipup and Patrat know Bite so no reason they wouldn't know it.

I might have to just get a new party member now because everyone is too low leveled now and there is nowhere to train except the grass in outer Pinwheel. this means that any encounters that are exclusive to inner pinwheel is probably lost.

I've always thought that places like inner and outer Pinwheel Forest should count separately since they're totally different Pokemon encounters. Outer should've just been called Route 4.
