No they did that because some cops are too lazy.

I don't think it's really "lazy" to increase ticket revenue by a couple orders of magnitude while reducing operating costs and freeing up cops to fight more serious crime than speeding. That's just being efficient.

There are 4 grannies who have voted on this poll so far.

Yes, I'm a grandmother, and voted "other", sluggish drivers that make me slip my clutch to keep from overrunning them. If a sports car behind you is blipping their throttle, be courteous and freaking get going! The go pedal is on the right, push it! 20mph or even faster won't give you a nosebleed!

if im on a 1 lane road and going 10mph over the limit already i have zero reason to go faster when someone is tailgating. they will just keep tailgating as i increase my speed

Which has absolutely nothing to do with sluggishly pulling away from a traffic light. I don't tailgate. And the kind of idiots I'm talking about are as likely to push the brake as the gas, or both at the same time. The only one-lane roads I see are driveways, ok to drive 10mph there. But, in the absence of car trouble, if you can't accelerate to at least 25 on a 45mph boulevard, why are you even driving?

Not paying attention, not completely stopping at stop signs, swerving in and out of traffic, trying to be the fastest car, tailgating, etc.

No offense, but you seem to be the type of driver that drives slowly on the fast lane.

Are you the type of driver who thinks driving "slowly" means driving at the exact speed limit? Because fast lane or not, if the speed limit is 90, I won't drive faster than 90. I'm just respecting the law. Drivers who break the law constantly driving over the speed limit are the ones I find the most annoying. It's not a racetrack, the only goal is to reach our destination safely.

I admit that I tend to drive a little bit above the speed limit, but I always pay extra attention and try not "stall" other drivers because of my actions. For example, I tend to let other drivers get in front of me when they want to get from one road to another. Specially when I see that there's a red light ahead and I wasn't going to get the green on time anyway. I also hate those that don't let anyone pass, even though they are no obligated to do so. But they just show how selfish they are and how they have little common sense.

I don't know if I make myself clear, english is not my main language and I tend to make a few mistakes here and there.

But basically, what I'm trying to say is that I always try to drive responsibly, which by my definition is driving and not wasting any of the other driver's time and not putting anyone in danger. I hate wasting time.

Bad mergers, people who use ending lanes to cut people off, people who can't wait their turn in line.

This. People who are bad at merging are just the worst.

1) Do not stop at a merge sign. Merge means speed up to the same speed as the traffic flow you're joining, find a spot, and smoothly merge in. If you slow down or stop, the entire system breaks down, you risk being rear-ended, and everyone stuck behind you will hate you.

2) By the same token, do not attempt to merge at a yield sign. Yield sign means the lane of traffic you are approaching has the right of way, so approach cautiously, check to make sure there are no other cars coming, and do not proceed if there are. Yield lanes are frequently too short to merge safely and other drivers may not be expecting you to make the attempt, so don't be an idiot.

And finally, by far the most frequently misunderstood rule of merging:

3) If you are merging into slow traffic, you are supposed to use the entire merge lane, not try to merge into traffic halfway through. If you use the entire lane and merge at the end, it creates a single point of entry, thus allowing cars to smoothly alternate between merging traffic and existing traffic. If you just pick a random spot, someone behind you can just zip past you and continue to the end of the lane, slowing you and everyone behind you down. On a related note, don't be that asshole that goes flying down the merge lane while everyone else is crawling along - yes, Mr. Important, I'm sure you have somewhere exceedingly critical to be, but you're going to be stuck going the same speed as the rest of us in a few seconds and scrambling to try to secure a place as far forward in the line as possible is not going to save you more than 20 seconds and makes you look like an enormous jackass. Proceed to the end of the lane at a reasonable pace, not more than 10-20 kmh faster than the traffic you're going to be merging in with.

SO TRUE, forgot about those, jesus christ!

Unless you're riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk, you're a cyclist, not a biker. But it's illegal for you to be riding on the sidewalk either way (in most jurisdictions). Cyclists who think they don't have to obey traffic laws are the scum of the Earth.

Its so dumb because moms were scared into banning little billy and susan from riding on sidewalks to keep them safe from cars pulling in/out of driveways (look it up) but now they have to dodge traffic on the road if their town doesnt have bike paths which is WAAAAAAAAAY more dangerous.

Car lobbyists were happy because it gives people less accessable transportation options in non-bike friendly areas.

I hate cycalists with a burning passion but not letting people ride on sidewalks outside of urban centers is beyond dumb. Nobody uses sidewalks outside cities anyway so whats even the point?

The college town I live in is filled with new people who havent figured out what is and isnt a bike path even though its painfully obvious even without markings. I even tried telling a guy he could get onto the path right next to him as he was holding up traffic through campus and even though he was out of town freshmen insisted that it wasnt a bike path.

There was one other guy on the path further up riding a bike.

Anybody who feels safe on the road on a bicycle either is dumb or has a deathwish.

That's so fucking dumb if true.

And yeah, I'd love to bicycle around, maybe even to work, both to save money and for the exercise. But it's way too fucking dangerous.

I don't try to block walkways at intersections. But the way a lot of them are designed, it's tough to see around the corner w/o pulling up that far.

Pretty sure not allowing a cyclist on a sidewalk has nothing to do with motor vehicle traffic laws.

Well it would be pretty rare to see a driver doing any of those things except the 2nd one which there is nothing wrong with it anyway.

Yes. Biking is my way of traveling alone since I'm scared of ever driving a car (even though I'm 26, but I'm gonna stay overly cautious).

But I do "facepalm" or cringe at walkers or cyclists who don't use traffic buttons to cross intersections (I use them and wait about 95% of the time unless if they are not working but if they are not working, I know when to cross when it should turn on). Half of the pedestrians I see don't use those and I just cringe when I witness it. There were a few times when I decided to rush through intersections and that's only during heavy rain (but I also take an umbrella with me).

It is in a good many places, unless it's a designated multi-use path. For good reason, too, given that riding a bike on the sidewalk is pretty dangerous to pedestrians unless you're going so slowly that you might as well not be bothering with the bike.

Okay, I just looked it up in my area and it's legal where I live (Florida).
http://flbikelaw.org/category/sidewalks-crosswalks/

316.2065 (9) A person propelling a vehicle by human power upon and along a sidewalk, or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk, has all the rights and duties applicable to a pedestrian under the same circumstances.

316.2065 (10) A person propelling a bicycle upon and along a sidewalk, or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk, shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing such pedestrian.

Bicycles can be legally operated on all Florida sidewalks and crosswalks unless a local ordinance prohibits it. When on a sidewalk, the operator is operating a vehicle and must use helmets and lights when required, and is subject to the DUI laws. Otherwise, the operator has the rights and duties of a pedestrian, but must yield to all pedestrians

Well, I haven't been aware about "316.2065 (10)" (I'll keep that in mind for now on) but I don't have a helmet but I do use my Android phone's camera as a flashlight during sunset.
