4 tons, 4 TONS of bite-force.

Strong enough to crush through the bones of dinosaurs around them, the T-Rex was not a force to be reckoned with.

If you do not want to read through the article, they basically compared crocs to models of dinosaurs to understand what the bite-force of the T-Rex may be, and this is what was produced. In the end, the T-Rex, while mighty, would not hold a candle to the ancestors of today's crocodiles, who could bite down with a force of 18,000 pounds. Yikes.

Still, the T-Rex's bite was deadlier than just being strong enough to crush bone! If you got bit, but found yourself lucky enough, or perhaps unlucky enough, to survive its devestating bite, then there is a chance you would die from infection caused by the bite. The Mighty Tyrant of Rexes, eating all kinds of meat infested by bacteria had traces of bacteria in their teeth, most likely from the rotting meat that would just stick around. This bacteria had a great chance to infect you and kill you. After you die, the t-rex would be able to smell you from miles away and get its dinner in the end afterall.

Unfortunately, the evolution of t-rex made it into a fearsome, and large predator, perfect for killing and eating up other dinosaurs, while being able to defend itself from others.

When the extinction event happened that led to the end of dinosaurs walking the earth, the T-Rex was unable to adapt quickly enough as most of its food source went away. The big ones most certainly would have died, but perhaps the smallest t-rex were able to survive, slowly evolving into smaller creatures and maybe becoming some of the birds we know today. That is just one possibility, they might have all died out.

It's T-Rex week, taking a bite out of your time to learn about t-rex and discuss them daily. Already made two other threads related to the t-rex.

But the arms are small!

Still able to lift 450 pounds, and have sharp talons on the end. As I discussed the other day, the t-rex might have used the arms for ripping up predators that were extremely close.

The arms are clearly vestigial.

There is no way they used them.

Some probably did like raptors.

It might not be actually something for all dinosaurs. The T-Rex for example has evidence that does just point towards scales, and of course, some that point towards feathers.

There has been debate, but I don't know.

Most animals wouldn't pass up on a free meal. To be honest, most animals are scavengers in some sort of ways as food is food, and why use up energy when you can get a free meal.

The T-Rex still has evidence to show it went out of its way to hunt food down as well.

Pretty sure the first movie was filmed before those findings were recognized. You see some of it in the later movies.

i heard they are already disputing the feathers claim

They've found dinosaurs that had wounds from a t rex that had started to heal. Which means he did at least sometimes hunt.

The only problem I have with that is what if the t-rex just bit them because they were intruding onto its territory or it saw it as a threat to its young?
