person in an apartment next to mine has a fedex envelope in front of their door for days now. I keep seeing it everyday and still not picked up. they are either not home or they aren't leaving their home. the door hasn't budged cause it's standing up, leaning against the door so it would fall over and be seen and picked up, if the door opened

Dead wouldn't be my first thought. Out of town or just being lazy would be my guess. I've certainly gone three days without opening my front door.

I've done it so many times, especially when I was a homeschooled kid. Between being sickly, depressed, poor, friendless, and afraid of some of the people living in busses and trailers on the property, that was just how it was. I'm sure I've gone weeks without going outside at some points.

Now I usually at least go outside to water my plants every other day. But I definitely still spend days without going outside sometimes. Nowhere to go, no money, sick, too hot, no privacy...

I know I should spend more time outdoors but it's hard to figure out any excuses for it when I'm not exactly capable of going anywhere on my own. :P

I rarely leave my apartment. usually I just go out once a day to at least check my mail or throw away trash in the dumpster. I never talk to anyone in the hall unless it's the building caretaker cause he is friendly and says hi to me. he's the only person in the building I actually know.

Why would you know your neighbours? They're uncomfortably close strangers.

I barely know one neighbor because she's a cat lady too and we always get her mail delivered to us. I can wave and have a ten second conversation with another neighbor. I know WAY TOO MUCH about one of my neighbors because she's crazy and using meth and heroin and wants to tell me about everything ever when she catches me. I'm not big on neighbors.

People can exclusively use their a different door you know.
I know some people who always exit/enter though garages or back doors and the front door is basically a decoration.

I had a neighbor die next door. She was old and lived alone. Nobody found her body for quite a few days.

You can call the police (not 911, but look up their non-emergency number) and tell them your concerns. They'll send someone out to do a welfare check.

I have that problem sometimes. I really try to keep myself occupied at all times, even if it's something lazy like posting here. Bad things happen when my brain is left alone to think.

I've use the non-emergency number before. You should do that. Or knock. That works, too. Or ask the caretaker. He may know.

I feel like I've known at least one of my neighbors in every house I've live in. Sometimes, both. But I'm usually very social at times. And I've always had nice neighbors. I've even played games with neighbors...

Also, off topic, but I believe you're in Alaska, right, Zikten? If so, do a lot of people drink sodas there? Like all the time? My supervisor was saying that lots of people in Alaska were dying from soda. And that the average person drinks 8 cans a day there. I wanna hear from an Alaskan.

I really dont know. I never heard about people dying from it. and I am not really a full alaskan yet maybe. I've been only here a year (when I said that earlier I didn't just mean in my building but in the state)

so I don't know all the epidemics up here.

myself, I drink like 2 or sometimes 3 a day. my dad yells at me about that. I don't think i've ever had 8 a day

Old condo handed out notices of fines or whatever and we always knew when someone was away (which could be bad if we were bad people) because the notices would sit rolled-up between the knob and the frame. So I read a note one time and the person was going to be fined if they didn't upkeep their plants or get rid of them altogether. That place was like Nazi Germany.
