Who doesn't recognize this if they've ever been channel flipping and come across the start of a CSI episode am I rite? I'm not sure if CSI increased the popularity of this tune but I know that it's actually negatively impacted my opinion of the song. I have watched most of the original CSI series and after hearing the intro that many times I've become completely biased against the sound of this song. I remember hearing it a few times in the 80's but then almost never until CSI came around so that is probably why I don't favor the song in it's original state too well. It is one of the band's most iconic releases but meh is completely how I feel about it.

Wow talk about bringing back the memories. This immediately made me think of a buddy of mine growing up. He was the first to discover this band in our circle of friends which is something he could never do for anything else and I remember him being so proud of it that he went over the top trying to promote them as the best music anyone could hear. Now I won't quibble as it was pretty cool music back in the day but they aren't so fantastic that I'd ever try to look like an a** for over-promoting them. Good ol Tim though. It's probably something he's still proud of to this day. I haven't talked to him in close to 12 years but that I am sure of lol. Tool has always been an experimental band to me though. I don't feel like they've entirely defined themselves even though they've got a decent scope of hits but at the same time I can't really recall too many bands that sound similar so they do have sort of a unique sound clearly.

This was a fill in selection when I couldn't quite pad out the 2010's with tunes I actually liked and was familiar with. I think I grabbed it from a connected youtube link when I was searching for the best tunes from this decade. I'm sort of not that impressed tbh. I do like that it has an 80's sound going on but that just makes it blatantly less innovative imo. The message is sort of ok but every aspect about the tune sounds mediocre and "safe" as in it seems like the band was using a surefire charting formula with recognizable scales and rhythm. It did ok on the charts but I don't know if it's finished making it's rounds in the mainstream as it is still fairly new. With more tunes like this I can see this band making a surge in popularity before the decade is over tbh.

{ 931st Place } [80's][ 195th Place]
Song: "Here Comes The Rain Again"
Band: Eurythmics
Album: Touch
---{ 1983 }---
Genre: New Wave

Video:

Write-Up:
I have a decent number of memories connected to this tune in the 80's as it was pretty popular back then. New Wave was breaking out everywhere like a virus and the Eurythmics really stole some of that limelight with this and their most popular Sweet Dreams (included in the ranking btw). I don't recall it being so symphonic but it sounds as good as ever imo but that could be because the link is the re-mastered version of the song. Not enough to make it higher unfortunately but we are almost in the 6 point range of the ranking despite being so low in the list so that actually isn't such a terrible statement to make imo. What a weird a** video though huh? I don't get the creepy dude filming the lead singer like she's throwing out an uncontainable amount of sex appeal. It's definitely not there lol.

{ 930th Place } [90's][ 207th Place]
Song: "Californication"
Band: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Album: Californication
---{ 1999 }---

Write-Up:
Hey it's the first Red Hot Chili Pepper tune to drop in the ranking. Man the late 90's really did crank out some major Alternative Rock didn't it. I used to like this song much better but then after a couple hundred listens I started to change the radio station as soon as it came on. Not sure if it's too much repetition that got to me or something else but I am usually not interested to hear this song nowadays. It might actually be in their Top 20 songs of their careers imo since I am not actually gonna take the time to look that up. I'm almost sure of it though. I had a couple of their cassettes as a kid and until the release of Californication I always liked Under The Bridge the best (which I deemed unworthy of this ranking for some reason...). The video is kinda cool and looks just like a real playstation game doesn't it?

Write-Up:
I was a Freshman in high school when this came out and it seemed like it was on every radio station for a time. I wanted to call it "Soft Pop" but that genre doesn't exist even though it probably should tbh. This was the kind of song everyone didn't mind but no one wanted to admit it in public or at least none of my friends did. When I hear the song it immediately reminds me of the time I spent on the yearbook committee. I had dabbled in graphic arts for the entirety of high school and the yearbook team is where that started. We'd frequently listen to the radio as we worked on various yearbook projects and this happened to cycle through a lot. I was only a part of that process as a Freshman and decided to leave the opportunity to other folks after that.

Band: Three Dog Night
Album: Naturally

Write-Up:
The 70's list grows ever smaller but it has been slowing down a bit. Will it be the first decade to reach it's Top 100? Could be but the 2010's aren't too far behind. Anyway, this was a pretty big hit back in the day. I've heard numerous variations of the song and even heard it sung in gospel before although it does have kind of the right fit doesn't it? I honestly can't recall if I've ever heard anything else from this band. Maybe they were one-hit wonders before that was even a thing perhaps. I don't mind the beat and it did well on the charts reaching #1 in a couple of countries. We are so close to that 6 point mark. By the time we get to 7 points I actually like without a doubt 99% of the remaining songs in the ranking. This is gonna start getting pretty tough when we get to that point. I just wonder if I'll even have an audience by the time I get to talk about the tunes I love the most...

Write-Up:
Good beat, did very well on the charts and is one of my wife's favorite artists from the 70's/80's era. But... not exactly an interest of mine. Kind of basic pop imo. You got a catchy beat and repetitive riff and voila am I rite? Anyway, I've heard this probably more than I gave it credit for in the memory point section but I don't really have any significant connecting memories other than the fact that my mother had a couple of Blondie records when I was a kid. When she gave me her old stereo system which included a record player, I inherited the Blondie records along with about 40 other records at the same time. I eventually sold them all about 10 years ago at my local flea market when I dug them out of the junk I had been collecting over the years but I remember one dude was over excited (and I mean over excited) because I had Blondie's Parallel Lines record and it was sealed brand new. I sold it to him for $2 and it somehow meant he could tell me how much he loved Blondie. He obviously didn't get that if I cared, I would not have been selling the sealed record for so cheap. I think there used to be a saying for hardcore Blondie fans but I don't recall what it was. They are eccentric folks for sure though.

Yeah, they're pretty awesome! Prequelle especially used a lot of unique styles which made it a cool album, like dance-rock stuff and throwback 80s sounds. I still prefer their earlier heavier stuff though. Perfect for around Halloween.

{ 926th Place } [90's][ 205th Place]
Song: "Barbie Girl"
Band: Aqua
Album: Aquarium
---{ 1997 }---

Write-Up:
What a weird song here am I rite? It has an incredibly catchy melody to it but if you really listen to the lyrics they can be very um... disturbing is a word lol. Is Barbie really having so much fun if you are undressing and touching her anywhere. The song sounds like it was written for and by a creep. I mean, I know at the basic level someone wanted to make a connection with the toys but the line in the song that tells me this is a creep's anthem is when Barbie says "I can act like a doll, I can beg on my knees" after we already established that she was a doll. Any way you interpret it I suppose is a far cry from empowering women nowadays that's for sure. I wonder what the #MeToo movement thinks of this song exactly. Maybe I've missed the point though. Perhaps the song was intended to be explicit and in your face and bring to light the Masculinist ways of the world that still existed heading towards the new millenium but I dunno... I kinda doubt that lol.
