That's 111 series anime and movies that I've seen, + 31 writeups explaining why I will never watch the show that you nominated (probably). Will hopefully go through this a bit faster now that I have the rankings finalized, but who knows how that'll actually go. I'll try to alternate between the shows I've seen and the ones I haven't, though that might get mixed up too <_<. Will start with a few shows that I've seen in a row, and I'll post a list of all the shows nominated in the next post.

111. Food Wars (AKA Shokugeki no Soma)
https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/3/72943l.jpg
@Raka_Putra

No one nominated one of the anime I'd say qualify for worst of all time, but Food Wars comes pretty close! I despise quite a few things about this series, but the main thing that makes it terrible is Soma himself. He's basically a huge asshole who doesn't have any particularly good reason to be way more talented than the rest of the cast, but he is anyway, and the show basically goes out of its way to try and make it seem like he's the good guy and that you should always be cheering for him. It even makes him so perfect that he doesn't lose a single cooking battle (at least not in the first season), and this predictability makes the series even worse. Everything feels inevitable, and not in a good way. The series doesn't have much to offer if you don't like him, since most of the other characters fawn over him in their own way - even the villains are all obsessed with him. Quite a few shounen try to have something of an ensemble cast, where the show will sometimes go multiple episodes without the main character even appearing. Not so for Soma. The side characters get barely any screentime compared to him. Even when it's an episode focusing on someone else, Soma's there the whole time. Erina seemed like she might be okay at first, but on the tsundere spectrum she's way too dere. Would've been better if she just outright hated Soma completely.

Even if the show was more well-rounded, I'm not sure how great it would be. The cooking battles aren't particularly exciting, and the overreactions to everything have been done better in other shows (Yakitate Japan, for example, which probably heavily inspired Food Wars, had much funnier reactions to the food than this, and did the comedy much better in general). The drama isn't that great either. I'm not even really sure what the show's appeal is supposed to be. It's not that funny and the drama's not that good, which leaves fanservice I guess? Tame fanservice series like this don't appeal to me in general, so for me at least, Food Wars basically had nothing to offer.

110. Black Bullet
https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/6/57947l.jpg
@Team_Rocket_Elite

Unlike Food Wars, I felt like Black Bullet actually had a lot of potential. The show is full of cute little girls, the main character is actually a pretty cool guy (for a harem protagonist anyway, he still has a couple issues), and theres a neat post-apocalyptic setting. Unfortunately for me, the series is justreally unpleasant. I try to make a distinction between two types of series that inspire negative feelings: some of them are sad, and some of them are depressing. I quite enjoy sad series, and its great to feel moved to tears. Depressing shows just make me feel bad and hate everything. BB falls into the latter category. Rather than moving sacrifices fighting the evil monsters, we get more of a focus on humans being evil pieces of shit.

The girls are all mistreated in general because they have monster blood in them (its what allows them to fight the monsters), and almost every single person in the world hates them because of this (none of them appreciate that they would be completely wiped out if not for these girls, because the show is poorly written). The main girl is kinda overly obsessed with the MC, but she has some good scenes in general, and is pretty entertaining. Theres a cute sniper girl who starts out a little bit evil and gets some development, and some girls that are being manipulated by humans who are evil for some reason (we never find out why there would be humans on the side of monsters trying to wipe out humanity, but whatever). Lots of them get cool arcs developing them and they end up on the side of good. This is the best part of the show, along with actually fighting the monsters (which rarely happens for some reason the humanity-destroying monsters barely ever attack humanity). The plot of the series mainly involves regular humans being pieces of shit to the girls though. Theres an episode where the MC helps build a school for these girls (they dont get to go to ordinary school because theyre monsters), especially the younger ones. I think a bunch of them are like 6, 7, 8 years old. The episode ends with terrorists blowing up the school and slaughtering dozens of children, because theyre just that evil. Theres a bit of a character arc with the MC where one of the bad guys tries to convince him that humanity is worthless and not worth fighting for. At least the series does a good job convincing you that the villain is right, I guess.

109. Sora no Iro, Mizu no Iro
https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/1/2278l.jpg
@NowItsAngeTime

If people were going to nominate hentai for the list, it would be nice for them to actually have something interesting going for them. Theres basically no interesting story here (except that it kinda seems like the girls both decide to ditch the guy at the end or something?) and the sex scenes are all pretty bland. And hey, if a hentai doesnt have hot sex scenes, what is even the point?

108: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/10/17709l.jpg
@Team_Rocket_Elite

The Umineko anime announcement was mostly met with dread from the game's fanbase. Though the Higurashi anime has its fans (myself included, spoilers), it left a lot out of the games and changed a lot of stuff for the anime. The early Umineko games are a lot longer than the early Higurashi games too (and also better - Higurashi was more of a late bloomer, so it was relatively easy to cut stuff from early arcs), so it would be more painful to make the cuts to make the anime work. Still, I was a little bit hopeful. They were using music from the games, which was awesome, and it would be cool to see the characters voiced, plus the battles could be cool animated. Unfortunately, the anime was a failure in pretty much every aspect. Rather than changing things to fit the medium better, the anime was totally faithful to the VN, but because of the low episode count, a lot of important scenes were cut out. Everything feels super rushed. Higurashis poor animation sucked, but it wasnt really that big a deal, since the show was mostly atmosphere and conversations. Umineko had actual battles and such, so having those look terrible was painful. Mostly, I feel like they just missed the feel of the series. The voices were good, but the atmosphere wasnt there. It felt like they had no idea how to adapt things, or what the themes of the series were. One of the weirdest parts was when they adapted a 20 minutes scene from the VN into a full episodeand then the next episode condensed the two hour ending on the game into a single episode. I mean, the scene they did was good and all, but what the hell were they thinking? The ending was full of scenes people loved, and they were barely there. Watching Umineko was just sad.

At least the OP was good, I guess.

I feel like Soma actually loses fairly often in Shokugeki no Soma but I guess a lot of those losses are more recent and after you stopped watching. But even in season 1 there are times when he loses and needs to get bailed out.

I can see why you might not like Black Bullet if you don't like depressing worlds. But I enjoyed watching the main girls even if their lives kinda suck.

I watched the Umineko anime before starting on the VNs. Although I still enjoyed it when I rewatched it after reading the VNs.

107. Shoujo x Shoujo x Shoujo
@NowItsAngeTime

Well, I guess this is less bland than Sora no Iro was, though not in a good way. I didnt really pay that much attention to the plot, but it seems to be about some guy who finds out that he has a bunch of half-sisters from his dads harem of sex slaves. Its strangely vanilla considering the darkness of the plot, though its a little more interesting than Sora no Iro at least. The scenes focusing on the plot with the dad are all pretty stupid though, and distract from the whole point of hentai (the sex scenes). This is still pretty bad.

106. Tonari no Seki-Kun: Master of Killing Time
https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/anime/12/54257l.jpg
@GavsEvans123

Comedy is the most subjective form of entertainment, so I suppose you'll have to take my opinion with a grain of salt here, but I didn't find Seki very funny at all. It kind of felt like a less interesting version of Teasing Master Takagi. That series at least tries to change things up once in a while, but Seki follows pretty much exactly the same formula every episode. I guess I watched the whole thing because it's shorts, but I still feel like watching it all was a pretty big waste of time. Seki himself is pretty unlikable, but the main thing that kills the show is his neighbor. Seki does something silly in every episode, and Rumi reacts the same way in every single episode. It gets really freaking old over time. At the start of the show you kind of sympathize with her being annoyed by Seki all the time, but by the end she just feels like an idiot. Seki's antics get less exciting over time too. The author's not very good at coming up with crazy new things for him to do, so rather than getting escalations or interesting new character dynamics, it's just the same thing every episode. Blah.

105. Engaged to the Unidentified
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8MIAW2vYhc" data-time="

@Robazoid

The first show on my list that I dropped! Which is a good thing for this show (probably), because the longer I watch a show I dislike the more I hate it, typically. I think I just watched the first two or three episodes, and was bored out of my mind. It always disappoints me when we get a cute girls doing cute things series and they add a male protagonist to make it feel more like a harem or whatever. Harems are dumb and a series is always worse for having one. Not that that was necessarily the case here, but guys shouldn't be important in cute girl SoL shows IMO. I didn't like the female characters much either, and though I can't remember the show that well, I think the interactions between the characters felt really bad from what I remember of it. Like, if someone played a prank or whatever, it felt incredibly mean-spirited rather than friendly. Apparently the series has some sort of supernatural twist later on, so I guess it could get better after that. I'll never know.

On the bright side, I'm not sure if I got to the episode with the scene from the youtube link above, but it is amazing.

@GavsEvans123

More like kill gavsevans for nominating so many bad comedies lolol (Who is GavsEvans123 anyway? I don't think I've seen the name before). Kill Me Baby has a fun premise about an assassin girl and her best friend (who is some sort of ninja kind of), plus a cute art style. The other characters are solid too IIRC, though the Rie Kugimiya character was dumb. Unfortunately this was another show where I just didn't find it funny. I'm pretty sure I watched the whole thing here too. The show had so much potential for fun antics and just didn't deliver on it. Maybe it was the presentation or something? It should've been more wild and crazy, but they go for a sort of more restrained deadpan humor which didn't really fit the premise as much.

Why the hell would you even nominate this travesty? Its technically better than the previous hentais by virtue of not having a boring or terrible plot, and it actually does have a couple decent scenes, but the animation sucks and its basically a horrible adaptation of the manga its based on. I guess I could imagine someone liking this if theyd never read the original, but even then the animation would probably hold them back. My feelings on this are somewhat similar to my thoughts on Umineko you could say, though this didnt offend me quite as much.

Ah, Rahxephon. Truly the Day Break Illusion of 2002. Basically a ripoff of Eva in every way, without taking any of the good parts. Theres a lot of stuff in Eva that doesnt make sense, and just exists to seem cool, but most of that stuff doesnt really matter (other than the last couple episodes which are legit flawed). In Rahxephon, all that stuff that doesnt make sense is central to the plot and characters. The setting is bizarre, the flow of the plot is nonexistent, and the motivations of the characters change along with the writers mood. Its been a long time since I watched the series, and because it was so nonsensical I dont really remember the details much. I watched it with a friend, and we basically just made fun of it the whole time. Even the animation/action wasnt that great, which is a pretty big strike against an action show. My expectations were reasonably high, so this was a pretty big disappointment. Thankfully the series is mostly forgotten and no one recommends it anymore.

101. Baka & Test - Summon the Beasts

Easily one of the dumbest localized titles of all time. Not only does it pointlessly keep a Japanese word, it also sounds super Engrishy. A 100% literal TL would sound much better. I suppose the series itself isnt really deserving of high quality translation though. Its yet another entry in the comedies that arent that funny rankings. This one is a bit more story focused than the previous ones, and its also a little bit funnier overall, but the story and characters arent that great, so that aspect isnt much of a plus.

One of the more notable things about the series for anime is that the cast is pretty evenly balanced gender-wise. LN MCs are usually pretty lame, but Akihisa is actually pretty funny. The male cast is actually really good in general, with Kouta probably being the funniest character in the show. Hes constantly doing terrible things, but hes so over the top that you cant really hate him. The ladies, on the other hand, are not so great. Shoukos yandere tendencies are funny a couple times, but 90% of the time theyre just annoying. Minami is one of the worst examples of the tsundere how hits the main character all the time for no reason. Mizuki is...okay, but she isnt very funny. The female half of the cast killing the fun basically took a potentially great show and made it mediocre.
