That's the real question. NMB doesn't work, so he probably would do it. I remember when he created a thread where his mind was blown that people spend $100 per month on comic books. $1,200 must be like a fortune to him.

Personally I wouldn't give up toilets because it's worth $1,200 to me not to have to shit outside and wipe my ass with grass and leaves. $1,200 is not that much money to anyone except NMB and unemployed bums like him.

I feel like hating on NMB is so in vogue people dont even think about what they say. 1,200 dollars isnt life changing money, but its 1-1.5 months worth of pay for me, with the job I have now, so yeah it is a decent chunk of money.

Actually I imagine a lot of people who work would agree. Maybe not to the level they would forgo a toilet, but still.

Talk about not thinking about what you say... $1,200 is a month of pay to you? Jesus, man, get a better job. That's an annual salary of about $14k.

I should though amend my statement to also include students who work minimum wage jobs while going to school. Any adult who works these types of jobs should be embarrassed though. These jobs are meant for kids, not adults. Adults should have an actual career that pays decent money.

I don't know if you're a student or what your situation is, but $1,200 really isn't that much money at all to anyone with an actual career. An average $50k salary comes out to around $1,000 per week, so that $1,200 is about a week's pay for most adults with careers.

The average American makes under 45k a year and is also one paycheck away from homelessness or other financial disaster. You'd be surprised at how many people $1200 is a big chunk of change for. That's a week and a half of pay for the average person.

That's actually kind of the truth. People buy shit all the time that they don't need. People buy shit they can't afford, and that's their own fault. Live within your means and buy the stuff you actually need and can afford. You don't need a huge house. You don't need a brand new expensive car. Smaller houses and cheaper cars are just fine. Heck, that was one of the biggest causes of the last economic recession was people buying houses that they couldn't afford.

Yes, any job is better than no job, but you can't deny that minimum wage retail/restaurant type work is intended for young people. Once you reach a certain age, you should have an actual career path in mind, and being a burger flipper at McDonalds isn't a wise career path.

There's a reason people hate these minimum wage retail/restaurant jobs. It's not just the low pay. The job itself is degrading. It's very shitty work, and people/customers treat you like shit. It's not a pleasant work environment, and most people should want out ASAP.

Honestly, people who stay in that kind of work environment just lack motivation to succeed and find a better career. You don't have to go to college to get a good career. Trade school and such exists, and those are much better careers than being a lifelong burger flipper.

Minimum wage jobs are indeed entry level jobs however some do offer career progression and they are not just just aimed at young people. Perhaps you want a change in career, perhaps you don't want a career at all because you'll be board of being stuck in the same job so you drift around. Who knows the circumstances and why folk may take these jobs? Also one would argue a person working a minimum wage job works the hardiest because they know they are easy to replace in a quite a few cases. The bottom line is however it pays and you know some of it is actually enjoyable so I see nothing to be ashamed about. End of chat.

Sure. I don't care how rich you are. $1200 is a good chunk of change and not using the toilet is a mild inconvience at best.

Depending on the definition of toilet anyway. Would an outhouse count? A portapotty? A bucket? A latrine? A diaper? A catheter?

$1200 properly invested for retirement could be an extra 30-40 thousand dollars. Or if you need money it can be rent for a month or two, Food for over half the year, a car if you don't have one, new appliances, hell in some places that would even be enough to buy land to start building your own house on.

Idk if I could. But I would like an extra $1200. It's actually not that bad of an amount. Even in the military, that's good pay. That's about one paycheck for some of the lower ranks(Before BAS & BAH, but maybe after taxes). And it could be pretty good depending on where you live.

People keep saying that min wage jobs are short term etc.

Almost 50% of americans make less then $15 an hour.

It's actually 42.something, but it doesn't take into account those who are on unemployement, disability, ssi, retired etc, and have to live on that much or less as well. It only counts actual workers. So it's actually over 50% that live on that amount of income.

Here is one site that breaks it down.

http://fortune.com/2015/04/13/who-makes-15-per-hour/

People don't do those jobs because they are lazy, they do those jobs because THAT IS HALF OF THE JOBS OUT THERE. If you have 100 lawyers, and only 10 jobs for a lawyer, and the only other jobs are min wage, guess what the other 90 have to do if they want to work?

If half of the jobs in the US pay under 15$ an hour, that means half of the people that work are going to get paid that much. It's pretty simple. You can argue all you want about looking for a better job, having a better resume etc, and all that is true, you could get that better position if you tried harder, but....it means some OTHER guy or girl, isn't going to get the position you took, and will then be working another job (maybe that job won't be min wage, but the person who was going to work that job...won't get it,....and maybe they will be working a min wage job etc.

It's actually worse now that Min wage is raising so fast so many places. Before, you had a range, min wage was around $9 an hour, and there was a good 6-8$ range over that for many skilled jobs, for people who worked a min wage job for years etc.

Now those people with 10 years of seniority working a job that started at $7 an hour 10 years ago, and has increased over time to a whole $12 (not horrid increase really), are going to be making minimum wage with everyone else once the base is $15 an hour.

In my area (for now) the min wage is only $11, so they at least have an extra $1 an hour, but....Home Health Aids and a bunch of other positions that require training (money spent for a program, 3-6 month program etc), they went from making 30% more then min wage in this area, to making minimum wage. They finally just increased the base to $13 because they were getting NO new workers in the last 2 years (It's $600 or so bucks for the training, not to mention the time, and for over a year, you would do that for a min wage job lol).

Anyway, whenever you go out and get food at a fast food place, go fill up your gas, go to a grocery store, shop at a mall etc etc...those people.....the ones doing pretty much most of the work around where you live? They all make around minimum wage and certainly less then $15 an hour. Even the managers. Even larger companies pay that for most of their employees, even their managers in most cases (take Conduent for instanc,e largest customer service company....pays $12 an hour base for employees (goes up slowly until you worked there 2 years then maxes at $14 an hour for base customers). The managers (first tier) get an extra $1 to the cap ($15 base), and the area managers etc that I talked to made around 30k (salary, but that breaks down to about $700 a week, which at 40 hours is $17 an hour).

An average $50k salary comes out to around $1,000 per week, so that $1,200 is about a week's pay for most adults with careers.

even if you make roughly 30 k a year it would still be roughly half a months wages. and I know plenty working jobs making around 30k but still are living from pay check to pay check if you count them spending a little money here and there on shit like video games or whatever hobby they have. so 1200 would probably nice to them.

hell when I was making 2400+ a month I would have taken a offer like this. but then again I spent most of my teenage life in the damn woods so using the bathroom outside is something I am, or was at least at one time quite used to.

edit: I will have to say though I would require somewhere no one can see me when i'm shitting at least. which where I live I can do. but i've lived places that wouldn't be possible.

if people only bought what they absolutely needed then we'd all have pretty vacant looking houses and be staring at paint drying for our entertainment

A 40 inch TV at the most instead of 60 inches is fine.

or a used zune instead of an ipod or a no-name budget phone instead of a iphone or galaxy

Or a smartphone. It sounds like you're talking about music, which is why I said what I said... And most smartphones have a way to play your music...

yeah. i'm actually fine with my 30 inch tv. I mean it would be less than ideal if I had a group of people trying to watch a movie on it. but for gaming purposes its good enough.

I just use my psp for a mp3 player, and I even forget what brand my phone is lol.

hell why not just go for the cheapest option on everything while we're at it?

Buying older systems is fine. But you can only play older games. So, it may work well for some...

yeah but we're talking in the sense that "nobody needs the newest stuff and that buying the cheapest option is probably the best for most people"

that seems to be where this topic is headed

hell why not just poop outside and save the water?
