New topics start around 5 or 6 p.m. EST.

*****A FEW NEW THINGS*****
I'm no longer picking shows a decade at a time. I'm going to just select a show based on whatever I feel like doing at the time. Some weeks may be dedicated to a certain theme. (90s week, Disney week, etc., etc.) I'm also VERY open to suggestions. I'll be starting a list to keep track of said suggestions. I may not get to it right away, but if you make a suggestion, I'll get to it eventually...just be patient.

If a show has not received 20 votes after 24 hours there will be a 24 hour extension for additional voting.

Finally a show MUST have at least 20 votes to make it into the top 10. If a show with a rating that will put it in the top ten still doesn't have 20 votes after the first extension, that show will be given a final 24 hour extension to get the votes it needs. If said show still doesn't have 20 votes, it will not be placed in the prestigious top 10.

That weird intersection between 90s inclusion and 80s moralist farcical melodrama.
Had it been made five years earlier, pretty much everyone would have been overt and absurd stereotypes. Had it been made five years later, one of the planeteers would have been in a wheelchair.

The show was pretty much crap, but it had a catchy themesong.

3 / 10. Amusing junk, but still junk. If you want an environmental-themed cartoon that's actually kind of fun, Toxic Crusaders is the way to go.

I didn't hate this show as much as others did or do but that's because, as crazy and unbelievable as this is going to sound, I completely missed the environmental messages each episode bludgeoned into our heads when I was a kid. I just saw the show as five kids with super powered rings fighting bad people and always needing Captain Planet's help after a certain point. The only exception were the Planeteer Alerts at the very end.

It wasn't until the Nostalgia Critic reviewed the show many years later that I realized that the entire show was drowning in "Save the trees!" and "Anyone who doesn't recycle is the damn Devil!" messages. It was actually hilarious to realize just how oblivious I was to the obvious. I also looked up some episodes online to give them a watch and... yeah the show kind of doesn't hold up. Again, I don't hate it but I don't like it nearly as much as I did as a kid.

But hey! At least we still have that end credits song AND a few really funny parodies!

Also, Wheeler is totally the inspiration for the American dubbing and name change of Joey Wheeler from Yu-Gi-Oh!

Loved Captain Planet as a kid

My first experience was a VHS tape that I got at a garage sale and then I watched it on Cartoon Network when it aired much later.
