MtG has had several cards recently with Day 0 errata because of messed up wording - I think you can make an honest case about which job is harder between MtG Designer and Mercs Admin (and one of those is unpaid!).

Really I would say weeks 38-41 were the shaky ones (39 having no busted mercs in it was purely coincidence), but it's much easier to just abbreviate it by saying week 41.

I've played since the days of Mirage and Fifth Edition. Not exactly a hardcore player but definitely more than casual. Like me some sealed tournaments and casual play. My deck design paradigm is basically, to the surprise of no one who has paid much attention to me, is "optimize a bad gimmick to its fullest potential." Like my favorite deck is probably my Inferno deck that kills the opponent by ramping into spammed Infernos and Fire Tempests if that gives you an idea. I also have multiple decks that use the old classic False Cure.

But yeah the care put into the game's balance and design is worse now than it's been since like Mirrodin. Really shoddy stuff.

I did like Dominaria though yeah.

Team Mercs

everyone has their own merc team but they would not fight in their own team.

The only issue may be low votes?

I think I have more fun assembling teams than actually playing the game itself. It's no surprise my Mercs 3 team began coming off the rails once I began deviating from my ethos and just started hiring 'strong' mercs, and explains why I got off to a flying start in Draft Mercs.

So I don't think I'll be much involved in this version. I think I'm too diametrically opposed to Kan with our respective visions of how Mercs should be run to stand being an admin, and I dont just want to churn out builds for a regime I have no say in. So good luck, but I'll be taking this one in from the peanut gallery.

How bad of an idea would it be to join as a player?

I think you deserve a chance to roll with a team you founded and I think you're better cut out for the game than a lot of the potential players due to having the endurance needed to not crumble under the game's pressure.

Also Kamekguy #1 choice of potential admins by far. (If I don't make a full list I can suck up to everyone. Damn I'm good.)

Reliability rankings probably go:

1. Me
2. Luis (pretty much okay for everything other than game balance and rulings. Only guy I would consider a decent total package admin out of the group.)
3. Dante/meisnewbie/Drakeryn (they were pretty responsive and helpful, but had small workloads in general and were basically just ruling assistant monkeys. But they were good at that, and 2/3 of them weren't actually technically admins, so I mean, no complaints here)
4. HGR (completely reliable until he lost interest, but at least there was no ambiguity there when he lost interest. knowing you can't depend on someone to do anything whatsoever is useful in a way. Also was upfront before the game started that this would likely happen so yeah, no real hostility here)
5. numbers (like HGR with a bit of a longer attention span. beat around the bush more about whether he would help with anything. also randomly "helped" with things in a destructive way)
6. Tirofog (total flake after week 10 or so and an object of hatred eternal for a reason. Overall contributed more than over half this list but we're talking reliability here not contributions)

So I mean, yeah, Dante was more than good at delivering what he committed to.
