Like, I realize that I like taking noted for games sometimes. I use to do it way more. Just so I can remember stuff. Obviously, it works well for things like codes or whatnot. But also for things like taking a note to come back to a specific place once I get a certain skill. Or a spot where a certain enemy is. Or the only spot to find a certain item. Or any spot you have to return to for any reason. Or quest info. Or character info. Or really anything.

Do the posters of PotD ever take notes on games, as well?

Sometimes - depends on the game.

It sort of goes hand-in-hand with using wikis - for games that are complex enough that I need to plan ahead, and am using information from an outside source to determine what my future plans are, I'll occasionally jot down notes to lay out what I'm going to be doing. But for most things, I don't necessarily make explicit notes based solely on stuff that happens in a game itself.

Not as a rule, but I'll write things down sometimes if it's like a memory-based puzzle. And passwords of course, for the rare game I still play that uses those. Except instead of writing down, nowadays it's usually just taking a picture with my phone.

When I play Minecraft I'll keep a file with coordinates of key areas, that's probably the closest thing to what you're talking about.

Sometimes I do. If I have enough notes, the time for it, and see hardly anything for it at the time, I'll attempt to write a guide. If I complete the game and guide both within a reasonable amount of time then I'll consider whether or not to post it on this site. That hasn't happened in ages, though.

I noticed a youtuber that was doing that. When they showed a password, he would get his phone and take a picture. I have also done that, before.

I have actually typed stuff when I have my computer right next to me, though.

Usually just copy item locations in a notepad file then check that instead of using a browser. I can just edit it later when I get that item.

I used to use the notes feature on 3DS all the time for games. I also use a document on my devices to track Fire Emblem pairings for each run through so I don't double a pair.

Yeah. They gave you space in the game. But there definitely wasn't enough... I had to do the same...

On Fire Emblem Warriors, they also have the relationship ranks. It's a little different, but similar. I made an excel document to keep track of everyone's relationship level. Haha.

I have the messiest notes for games like Talos Principle and The Witness lol just scattered sheets of paper with crude line drawings. Look like the notes of some lunatic in an asylum

Back in the day I took very detailed notes for games like Myst.

You gotta get a board so you can make a conspiracy wall. Just start putting all the papers on the wall with lines of thread going from one to another.

But maybe there's something that you specifically want to remember that's not in a guide. Or that not everybody cares about... So no one else really remembers...

Yup, all the time. I take both pen and paper notes and notes typed in something like notepad.

I mean, recently I got an H game and for each girl you get exp on various body parts to get all the parts up to 100%. You don't want to waste time teasing the nipples when you should be focusing on the anus.

Now that I think about it, I don't even know what getting them to 100% even does.

Let's see here, what kinds of lists do I have nearby?

Evil Genius starting list since I threw the last one away.
a few different builds for Smite since I was going to get back into that but kinda stopped.
Some Japanese names in kanji for some reason.
A list of my Re;Birth 2 saves for when I stream that game in the near future.
A list of endings in Night at the Inventory that I got. But is now defunct since I don't have the save anymore.
Another Smite build on a different piece of paper.
Build orders for Red Alert 3 factions
A small list of specialist I needed to farm for Disgaea 1. Along with what they did and the max number I can have.
3,2,3,1,4,3,3,1,1,3,1,1,4,4,2,2,4,2,2,4
1,2,1,3,4,1,1,3,1,4,3,3,4,3,2,2,4,2,2,4
I have no idea what those strings of numbers are for.
A list of skills to do in The Crew 1 back when I used to play that game.

Depends on the depth of the game.

Did it in Nioh, most fighters, and Mercenaries in RE6 because no one thought it would be a good idea to know where enemy spawn points are at specific chains.
