just started diamond is unbreakable. lol what can i expect? Is this one usually considered to be better than Stardust?

Im watching it in japanese because I could find any eng dubs. but at least I have gotten used to it seeing that I had to watch Stardust s2 in japanese too since i could find episodes in english.

DiU is structured as a character-driven Slice of Life story for it's first half, with like two or three semi-major enemies. About episode 17 or 18 it shifts gears and it turns into a spooky mystery. The villain of the second half is often considered one of, if not the, best villains in the franchise, but that's not unanimous.

Finished the first half of Stardust Crusaders about a week ago. Man was that an underwhelming season. Decided to give Battle for Egypt a chance today. I really hate that dog.

I just watched D'Arby vs JoJo Group

That was easily the strongest part of Stardust Crusaders so far.

I personally think that the OVA did a better job with D'arby's encounter than the anime did, but of course it doesn't help that the OVA is ugly as shit to look at.

Probably because the characters aren't as 2 dimensional as they were in part 3... Despite literally being just as 2 dimensional as part 3 characters were

The empress was such a shit awful stand on hindsight

The only good thing about the empress fight was the Part 2 call back. Otherwise it was super forgettable, like many of the fights in Part 3.

I hate how nerfed Joseph is in Part 3, but I guess Araki did have to give Jotaro more spotlight because he's the main character, even though he's probably the worst main character right next to Jonathan.

The first stand user Dio sends after the full group uses his stand to murder a bunch of random people on the airplane they are flying on though. He rips out their tongues and writes a spooky message on the wall. That sounds pretty harmful to non-stand users.

Why did Polnareff become the main character all of a sudden though, is it to make the Joestars more impressive as characters?

I'm also sad Joseph got nerfed but that mini murder mystery segment makes me believe he's still pretty sharp

Yeah I agree, wish they give Joseph more of a battle-relevant role. They avoided a cliche by not making him the wise old master type but they could have done that and still kept his old personality.

Finished Battle for Egypt. Man that was a hard slog. There were points that were okay, but overall it was even worse than the first half. Maybe Stand Jojo just isn't for me. I'll definitely be taking a break before starting Diamond is Unbreakable.

Im currently 2/3 through Part 4.

Part 1 was good.

Part 2 is god tier.

Part 3 is dragged out and mediocre until the last few episodes.

Part 4 is god tier.

Cant wait to start Part 5.

Not really, in fact it's overly silly the majority of the time. It only gets serious during the main fights like the fight with J Geil and all the fights inside Dio's mansion.

Though the gore in a lot of the throwaway fights does give it the serious vibe at times.

Araki did all he could with hamon. Just wait. I thought stands were really mediocre at first too but it starts really getting good

Wait until Spin gets introduced.

Yeah, the hamon was very limited in terms of creativity. What I theorized was that Araki originally wanted Jojo to be a series about bizarre events that are happening around the Joestar family, but what happened was that the "stand" concept was gaining popularity and Araki realized the potential he could do with them. This is backed up with Rohan's side story of supernatural things happening. It's just my guess though.

The throwaway fights are the vast majority of content.

The OVA is just so much better at getting the point across.

I think it's so people actually think "oh man, will Polnareff survive" since the Jojo's obviously have plot armour.

jotaro didnt even feel like the main jojo in part 3, joseph still felt like that main dude. or was that really how it was supposed to be?

Not sure if you've read past part 5 yet (if you haven't don't read this) but part 6 jojo technically doesn't survive to see the end and it's another character that finishes the villain off

Plot armor was thrown out the window from the start with Jonathan. Very first JoJo died and lost his fight despite beating Dio multiple times.
