All I care about is good camera, good battery. Otherwise, all I do is browse the internet.

Depends on various factors, especially for the bells and whistles.

You're better off with the Pocophone or One Plus or Honor device if you want top spec at a budget.

If you plan on keeping it and using it for as long as humanly possible then it's fine (especially if it's a model with a battery you can replace on your own but I hear those are becoming rarer and rarer), but if you plan on "upgrading" in a year then it is definitely not worth it.

The one plus is a budget phone that's nice as hell for the price. Sprint only if I remember correctly

Depends on the phone. For just an average, decent phone, no (fuck the price tags on Apples and Samsungs). For a specialized gaming or professional photography phone etc, yes, I can see it being justifiable.

I currently have a Samsung j7 it cost me around 275. It takes clear pictures, is fast at browsing the web, playing videos and has a fantastic speaker. I don't have a case for it and I've dropped it multiple times, sometimes really hard, and it works perfectly. The picture quality is just as good as the expensive phones. I've had this phone for 2 years. My previous phone was an LG V10 which was by far the best phone of 2015 and still to this day one of the best phones I've ever owned, unfortunately LG phones have bad speakers and after 2 years start degrading bad I had to get a replacement.

To answer your question, I see absolutely no reason to buy the expensive phone models except for these two reasons: 1 to demonstrate status 2 because you have a job like a social media manager which requires you to have to use a smartphone a lot and have the very best hardware and software.

Overall, for the average person it's a complete waste of money.

Of course not, it's kind of absurd to pay that much for a phone. As long as people will pay for it though, they will keep charging that much.

Is the J7 better than the S7? Or comparable?

J line is hugely inferior to the main line equivalents. They are definitely "good enough" for many people, but they're nowhere near the same as the flagships.

It's comparable in terms of basic features and some advanced features. You won't to fiddle with the advanced settings In the camera but that is more for video editors and photographers. The battery is going to last you longer on the cheaper phones because the hardware is not as taxing. The picture and video quality is going to be practically identical, especially if you use apps that can add a slight sharpen and contrast to the image/video if you're going to be picky. Overall, I'm never buying a 600+ phone again.

The biggest issue is it doesn't cost them anywhere near $800 to make it, there's a reason why they give away a free $300 to $400 phone with new contracts because they price gouge so hard on them that they can afford to do so. Your new $800 phone could easily cost $400 and they still make a solid profit. I remember reading the manufacturing cost of phones like this are around $200 per phone total.

Thats literally the point of a business, to make profit.

People forget phones are handheld computers. Not everyone is going to need a top tier phone, but to attack them like some users in this topic is ridiculous. The J7 and the S7 are nothing alike. S7 will Be faster and have a better camera and also last you longer than the J7.

Looking at the S9 reviews, it isn't worth getting the newest model if they remove and change a lot of familiar features.
