I was worried that episode 2 was gonna be a step down after the highs of episode 1, but this is managing to keep up the awesome pace so far. There's a little more invisibility this time around, but it's acceptable given the time constraints.

I think you're probably right. She seems level-headed, and her accent maybe makes her solo confessionals less compelling. Like, if Lyrsa was calm, we probably wouldn't hear much from her either.

elizabeth is my favorite, so by proxy i am in favor of lyrsa and supportive of tonight's result

i still dunno how i feel about christian, but i think i at least prefer him to our last ultra-nerdy dude incarnation (ryan from hhh)

pro-jeremy/mike white on goliath but they've been mostly bland or invisble so far, so guess we'll just see

I dunno, I feel like this season needs a swap at 18, so the Davids aren't down even more members by the time they actually swap. Because I don't see the Davids winning a challenge unless they bring back that SOS challenge from the early seasons.

We had swaps at 18 in Cambodia, Game Changers and Ghost Island, and all it did was make the dominant tribe that much more likely to stick together and pick off the minority. Meanwhile, the swap at 16 in MvGX, as shitty as the season was (IMO), led to the post-swap minority on EVERY tribe managing to survive.

The thing is, while there is some tension on the tribes, if you disband them too early, you risk having a David Tribe that doesn't trust each other (because they've been to tribal council and had a blindside already), while you also have a Goliath Tribe that has more reason to stay unified.

Yeah, but if you swap too late, then the Davids don't really have a chance since they're down by so much and the Goliaths still don't have much of a reason to turn on each other. On a season where the tribes aren't hilariously mismatched, I agree with you, but this season is kind of a special situation.

You know what I find amusing? Episode 1, the Davids fell way behind because Carl fucked up the digging portion of the challenge. Episode 2, the Davids fell way behind because Bi struggled with climbing the ladder. Carl and Bi both voted in the minority that targeted Lyrsa as the tribe's weak link.

Also, I was just thinking about how the vote went down, and it was set up last episode if you think about it.

Last episode, Nick formed an alliance with Elizabeth (he gave it a name, but I can't remember what it was.) Elizabeth formed an alliance with Lyrsa. Christian formed an alliance with Gabby.

Meanwhile, Carl bonded with Davie and formed an alliance with Jessica. Really, the only thing we gained from this episode was the connecting of Nick/Elizabeth/Lyrsa with Christian/Gabby, plus establishing where Bi stood. It just impresses me that, aside from Christian hooking up with Nick, the editors established all the information needed for this episode LAST episode, amidst all the character scenes and whatnot.

Finally watched this week's episode and wow this is shaping up to be a great season so far!

I know I said that sarcastically every day during BB20 but I mean it right now. The editing is really on point, keeping things suspenseful AND trying out some new storytelling tricks. The cast is fantastic. I don't want to jump the gun but across the board this seems like one of the best casts in many years. The sets are wonderful. That shot of Nick gazing at the arch above the voting booth was very indicative of just how massive these sets are. The music is phenomenal. And so far it's got just the right mix of character and strategy. In a way I can't explain I feel like the poor weather contributes to that. It seems like in seasons with a lot of rain there is generally better character development. Maybe due to people getting stranded in the shelter more? I dunno. Whatever the reason, I desperately want this season to keep doing what it's doing.

This season is refreshing. Early favorites are Nick, Natalie, Davie, John, and Lyrsa, and there's no one I'm actively rooting against (yet). Lets hope there will be enough drama to keep things entertaining.
