The Boomsday Project is the newest hearthstone expansion. It was released on August 7th, about a week and a half ago so the meta is still very fresh and evolving on a day to day basis.

Many of us play constructed games, and there are some great resources for learning about the best decks to play in these changing times. Here are some generally good links for constructed:

I don't know too much about this one, but it seems to be a pretty data heavy site as well. Sorted by rank 20-11, rank 10-6 or rank 5-legend.

But not everyone prefers constructed, and if you want to make the most out of your Arena runs then consider these good links for Arena:

Both of these are pretty similar, with values attributed to possible arena cards based on how likely it is to be a good card. Additionally you can Hearth Arena (and a Hearth Arena overlay through the program Overwolf) to give you advice while you are drafting that considers the cards you have already to make weighted decisions. Having a good deck can give you a significant leg up on the competition before your first game even starts!

Hearthstone posted its best year last year.

Game isnt going anywhere for years.

Artifact looks fun as shit on an unrelated note but it seems like its gonna have some nerf issues.

My experience with Magic involves a month long period a few years ago where a friend and I netdecked a cheap competitive standard deck to teach ourselves the game, and we had a lot of fun there. Seeing everyone play the online one that just came out has me itching to try it out, but at the same time I don't want to make the time/money investment.

I also want to get back into Gwent when that single-player expansion comes out in December. They redesigned so much of that game to the point where it looks like a different thing altogether. I have so much dust in it too, and most of the good cards from back when I played a year ago, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get back into it and make something competitive there.

Artifact doesn't interest me at all.

If I was starting fresh in the digital card space, I probably wouldn't go with Hearthstone. I've just gotten so invested in the game time/money wise, and in the scene around it, that I can't quit and move to a different card game and begin investing time/money there. There's definitely some sunk-cost fallacy going on here, but I can't help it.

I'd sooner quit the genre altogether than commit the same time/money I've committed to Hearthstone to a different game.

Bit disappointed I couldn't make this topic, or at least continue the naming trend of "October Edition", but I guess I should have realized the last topic was as close as it was to 500.

I think I'm gonna try and push for a high legend finish this month. I've been spectating a ton and I feel like my grasp of the current meta is about as sharp as it's been at a given point. Not sure if I'll have the TIME, but I'm starting a new job in a couple weeks so I'll actually have a more reliable schedule and that could help. I'm also going to have 3 full days between jobs so that will be nice too!

Just won a game where I was doing nothing but playing secrets and draw to finish a quest, because a Paladin buffed all of his 1/1 minions to 2/3 with Sound The Bells and then attacked into an Explosive Trap while I had Thalnos on board. Concede came immediately after. Probably didn't hurt that the attack that cleared his board also triggered Wandering Monster and Venomstrike Trap, and his Bells just got done triggering a Rat Trap.

To be honest, I feel like Thalnos+Explosive is one of those things you never realize is a thing until it happens to you.

Got Battlecry and Shaman card quests, so I took an Evolve Shaman into Wild, and went up against a Shudderwock Shaman. He had both Lightning Storms early to deal with all the small stuff I had, but he was out of options for my Dopplegangster->Evolve on Turn 6. I still had two of my 6-drops the next turn and topdecked Unstable Evolution. First result is Nightscale Matriarch. I look at the Healing Rain in my hand, think about how he used his Storms already, and realize this is gonna be a fuuuun game.

You play based on the matchup. You don't just use random cards that happen to be green that turn.

Taunt Druid vs Odd Warrior.

Odd Warrior has ways to put cards into it's own deck. Taunt Druid has several cards that pull from it's own deck. Because of this the warrior will always be favored if the match reaches fatigue.

That means the taunt Druid needs to stick a board, and needs to do it several times because of odd warrior multiple board clears.

This is possible because of witching hour but is still difficult. Warrior is expected to play 2 copies of brawl and 2 copies of reckless flurry.

You don't want play a naked hadronox at any point (OR summon it with oakheart which is literally the same mistake). Even if the warrior missed the mct he probably runs 2 copies of ironbeak owl which would allow him to remove the first hadronox without requiring a board clear.

Hadronox + naturalize
Witching + cube
Witching2 + cube2

Even with everything I've said druid can only definitely proc Hadro three times and warrior had the potential for four board clears.

To win:
You need to try to get the warrior to waste an owl. If the owls get wasted then the warrior won't have an answer for one of the cubes which results in a 4th board.

You want to make sure you are putting your best minions into the pool. Avoid playing the 2 damage poisonous or the 3/6 (one 3/6 is fine). You want lich King and 4/12 and 4/8 being summoned. This can create the possibility that your opponent might not have enough armor to activate reckless as a clear.

So you count brawls and flurry's and owls and trigger your hadronox as they are played and you can possibly stick a board before the warrior draws enough answers. Hell druid may even be favored if they aren't actively throwing the game. Odd druid can't put beasts in your pool unless they get sentry off of stonehill so witching hour becomes guaranteed.

I'm literally not trolling though. I was using scorn and derision to underscore my point that you executed a 0-skill maneuver only to complain about skill not mattering when it lost you the game. Skill matters. RNG matters too.
