My biggest problem was the rally characters. I didn't know if I should just cut them out or have them go all the way, so I split the difference and have them all going to like, Round 4.

Even some of the legit characters I don't have a great read on anymore either. I think I'll be able to hone in on things after I see a few matches, but that doesn't help for bracket making!

Yeah, I think I'll have a feel for it once we've gone through a couple of divisions. I decided not to bother even taking rallies into account when making my bracket because it's such a crapshoot.

I'll worry about rallies if they happen during the Second Chance bracket.

My view is that rallies are either going to go all of the way or fizzle out in R1.

Well yeah, Sans and Geralt are tricky for that reason. Geralt can be pretty decent even without a rally, and he doesn't even have a particularly difficult division, to boot.

Finished case 3 (after having to completely redo the day 2 investigation because my game didnt save properly).

Ended up enjoying that one a good bit. Still not really into Nahyuta, and I dont care for Insight as a mechanic, thouugh. I do like Rayfa, and Im interested to see where the story goes. This game has a much more defined throughline across cases that the other games didnt and Im into it.

Yeah, I do like how clearly interconnected all the cases are. Nahyuta is never really that great, but I think 6-3 might be his best showing. Rayfa is really good though. 6-3 did a lot of smart things with her, I think.

augh I'm looking over my bracket again and now there are things I want to change

honestly I'm looking for any reason to not have Ganondorf to win Division 1 but I'm not sure I can trust Dante or Vivi to do it

I have no clue on Yoshi/Pikachu

there are so many potentially close matches in division 3 that I might not change any of them because who knows

I'm taking Shadow to beat Ness but man I don't feel good about either one of those guys

I've got Aerith in the division finals in division 5 almost by default because I don't know what to make of anyone in that lower half

I know picking Hayabusa to win three matches is just asking for trouble but I'm not totally sold on Geralt being strong without a rally

I took Luigi originally to win Division 7 just as a fanboy BOLD prediction but now I'm kinda waffling on that; MMX might be the strongest guy there but I've talked Tifa up so much that I almost feel obligated to take her to beat him

no clue what to do with that all-girls fourpack at the bottom of Division 8; KOS-MOS seems like the "safe" choice just because we've seen her win matches before but none of these characters are going to be very strong

that's one perplexing thing from every division! what a bracket this is

Hmmm...I didn't dig TWEWY's controls with the Joy-Cons, so I switched (get it) to handheld mode pretty quickly. It's kind of weird that literally everything is controlled by the touchscreen and none of the buttons work in this mode. Like, I don't even really understand how I'm supposed to move Neku around while I'm simultaneously fighting Noise.

I did just unlock co-op mode, so I might go back and try it just to see what it's like playing as Neku and Shiki at the same time. I was kind of worried that the controls just wouldn't "feel" right, and so far, my fears are proving true, but maybe it'll get better as I get used to it.

Game's music and writing are still top notch though.

argh

I'd probably try to work with the joy cons anyway but it sounds like that isn't much better?

Well, Joy-Cons might work but it'll take a lot of getting used to what the buttons do and what to do when. Also, it feels like you have to re-sync the pointer a lot (which is easy, thankfully, but still). It just feels like it'll be hard to get used to "slashing" with the Joy-Cons and stuff, especially since it also requires a button press.

Co-op TWEWY on your own is quite a bit harder than keeping track of both screens on the DS version, but it seems more fun than the solo mode. It might get crazy on tougher fights though.

well we're 3-3, so theoretically, it's on the table!

We've got enough winnable games to get there, so it's doable, especially if we can keep playing like we did today.

man, I can't believe I missed the entire game because of work and the early start

ReLIFE beated

Great show - had a nice mix of comedy and seriousness, and while there was a little too much silly melodrama it resulted in some really good character moments so it wasn't too bad. Really wish it had a full second season since the OVA felt pretty rushed, but there were still some touching moments in there. Liked most of the main characters at least somewhat, although Chizuru was easily my favorite and my favorite smile.

On a related note, I really appreciate how you have a list of all the anime you've seen and enjoyed - it's given me several good recommendations.

That's partially what it's there for!

I'll have to re-watch ReLIFE once they dub the OVAs (which I think is happening next month, if I'm not mistaken).

But yeah, if you enjoyed the anime, I highly recommend the manga, especially if you loved Chizuru. She's even better there.

4-1 is great though.

Yeah, Blackquill was good, even if I think he felt a little out of place here. The whole case just felt completely disjointed from the rest of the game. It seems like they really just wanted an Athena case and cobbled this together. I didnt like how green Athena came off - I get shes still a rookie but she would have been completely lost without Simon there.

I also dont really understand why Nahyuta was even the prosecutor in this case. I dont remember the time difference between the end of 3 and the beginning of 4, but it seems very weird to have him fly all the way back to the US for this case. Maybe it makes more sense in Japanese where the game doesnt take place in California.

But yeah, the murder was really dumb, and I didnt like any of the case specific characters. Its not as low as 4-2, 4-3 or 2-3 for me, but its definitely a bottom 5 case from my initial impressions.

I mean Phoenix was that way during chunks of PW1, too! I think that part gets overstated with 6-4 anyway. Athena figures out plenty of important things on her own without him.

Well, AA is kind of nebulous when it comes to the passage of time, but 5-3 took place in October and 6-4 took place in May. Plus, it's hard to say how many cases Wright & Co. takes on that we don't actually see for ourselves, but it doesn't seem like very many...!

I'm in a weird position with my teams where my first reaction after they win is to start thinking the other team isn't very good

"Oh, the Vols won? Auburn must not be very good."

"Oh, the Cowboys won? Jags must not be very good."

"Oh, the Titans haven't scored a touchdown in half of their games? How are we 3-3 and tied for first in our division?"
