Overlord is an anime with the "Person gets stuck in an MMORPG" premise. I haven't seen it (only one of those I've seen in its entirety is Sword Art Online) but having read up on it a bit it doesn't strike me as something you'd enjoy tbqh. But again, didn't watch it so take that with a grain of salt.

Well the twist is that Protagonist-kun isnt a plucky teen prodigy; hes an OP as hell Elder Lich with mediocre management skills, struggling to become the evil overlord that all his minions think he already is.

The pull is mainly not from the fights but from the political machinations within the fantasy world and the strong character development.

To comment on more anime I haven't watched, I think something like Log Horizon would be more in the vein of an MMORPG isekai that Leon might like. But I'd have to watch it to know for sure. I don't think there's anything immediately disqualifying at least. Then again, I'd say that about SAO, but since I have watched that I feel pretty confident Leon would just think it's not that good for the most part.

Right, I forgot Leon isnt a fan of morally dark grey protagonists.

I dont think I could recommend SAO to anyone unless I wanted them to suffer the same disappointment that I did.

I got suckered in by the interesting premise/setting established in the first few episodes of SAO and then everything went to hell and I just kept going on sunk cost fallacy.

At least you get Mother's Rosario as a reward for sticking with it. SAO didn't deserve that arc.

This sounds more like it would be up user SaveEstelle's alley than mine, although he is also not a fan of villain protagonists. He allows for more moral gray areas than I do, but not much.

It has been a while since I've seen season 1 so I don't really recall that many specific examples. One thing I do remember is he, as Momon, was grouped with some other adventurers to go investigate something. I think it was Shalltear. He wanted to keep it a secret so he just killed them. This is as Momon where he is supposed to be roleplaying as a good guy, too.

He certainly doesn't act like that, by and large. He seemed more like a restraint on the people under his command.

(Though none of this should be taken as a recommendation to watch the show, mind >_>)

sao is in this weird place where mother rosario is god tier, ggo is really good (though missing a few details from the books that really help imho), SAO isn't bad for being literally the first thing the author ever wrote, and the second arc is garbage because the author was way in over his head and had no idea what to do.

in other words, i'm looking forward to the new season halp.

This is correct, TRE seems to have merged two plotlines in his head. The adventurers were killed by someone else and Momon even avenges them. Shalltear comes a bit later and isn't really connected.

Ainz is still super evil though.

Overlord Season 1 Episode 11 spoilers
Momon is in a meeting with a bunch of adventurers about what to do about investigating Shalltear. Some of them insist on coming with Momon to go see Shalltear. Momon says they will die if they come along. In the next scene, just before meeting Shalltear, most of them are dead and Momon gives the order to kill the last one. He uses their corpses for undead experiments.

Security guard without the cameras is basically my job (sitting at a desk all evening where basically nothing ever happens). If you're anything like me you'll soon find productive ways to spend that time.
