Besides the namesake Bunnygirl outfit in episode one, the closest thing to fanservice so far has been handholding, the implication that a shower occured, and a girl bending over so the dude could kick her in the butt for revenge.

Show seems to be trying to avoid fanservice, honestly.

I mean in Bakemonogatari Araragi sandbagged the idea of being attracted to his sisters hard also, and then that was not the case at all in Nisemonogatari so I will always lowkey be worried about the MC of Bunny Girl also pulling that :v

I checked out three more airing anime.

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is something I finally checked out just to see what everyone was talking about and... man, that was awesome. It wasn't that long ago that we were all joking about how this would obviously be terrible. I can't believe it's already my favorite of the season after two episodes. I love all the characters and story so far, but I'm also really digging the fantastical tone of this whole dilemma. It really does feel like Monogatari except minus all the elements I didn't like about Monogatari. Ep 2 spoilers I hope the whole season is about Mai slowly disappearing and this isn't just the first story. I feel like that could get really poignant.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is also surprisingly good. The way they're handling the isekai world with clear video game elements reminds me of Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody, except this is about a charming slime instead of a generic MC. I want someone to make a Metroidvania of the part where it was going through the cave collecting monster powers, what a neat idea for an isekai protagonist (perhaps even beating out the evil skeleton lich in Overlord). Really looking forward to seeing where this goes, the OP visuals give me a lot of hope for fun adventures.

Conception, meanwhile, is something I'm going to watch because I played Conception 2, which kind of sucked but had a few decent waifus I guess. I can already tell that this anime is going to be rough. The whole thing looks like it's going to be an excuse for fanservice. That might not be such a bad thing if it were at least handled right, but these characters are so lame and the fanservice so far has been so tame. If you're going to have a premise where a guy needs to have sex with twelve girls in twelve episodes, at least go all the way! The second game was a shaky excuse for fanservice too, to be fair, but it still had a few interesting moments on top of that. Ellie's story in particular actually managed to get to me, so I'm holding out hope this anime will have something on that level.

Conception and SkySea aside, this is a crazy strong season so far. Goblin Slayer might land around a 5/10 but everything else is a solid 7/10 or higher at the moment. On my ranking scale, that's pretty impressive!

Oh yeah there was something kinda dumb about Rascal ep1. Mai being so hungry when it seems like she has no problem touching stuff even when shes disappeared to everyone. Why couldnt she just grab some food and eat it?? She had no problem taking food MC gave her so I dont see why she couldnt just drop money on the counter and take some food.

Dude, consider her actually wanting to meet up with MC again and it being an in universe excuse she had to sed him, not her being an idiot about how easily she could take food for the out of universe goal.

I don't know how you could watch episode 2 and think she doesn't like him, which makes the explanation of her wanting an in universe excuse to see him again make a lot of sense.

Ive only seen episode 1 and I never said anything about whether or not she likes him. The consistency thing is about whether or not the show will actually be consistent with her condition because many anime fail at that sort of thing all the time. Its not quite the same, but Dusk Maiden and AnoHana were very poor in that regard with their female leads.

A Place Further Than the Universe

Before it aired I thought it seemed like something that was going to be generic and soulless, and the premise seemed uninteresting enough to me that I thought I wouldn't like it even if it was executed well.

Also the color palette/general aesthetic was off-putting to me initially. (This part I never fully changed my mind on either...)

Looks like the only new free thing I can check out today is the Zombie one. I guess its good I didnt watch Between the Sea and the Sky and RErideD yesterday so that gives me 3 ep1s today instead of 1. Tomorrow is Jojo and I bought a DiGiorno pizza to celebrate

XD, well its frozen pizza so you cant expect much. As far as the frozen brands go Id give DiGiorno 2nd place and Screamin Sicilian first, but the latter is almost twice as much money

I don't think you should write off Mai until the second episode. Both her and it were very good.

Yeah, but its hard to ignore one of the main characters especially if it ever does have romance (and it probably will). Like SNAFU is another decent show where I actually like most of it, but I dont like one of the mains and havent even really cared to check out the second season. Im usually in the minority here though because I just dont like those types of main girls at all

How did you know the food she holds is invisible then, that isn't made explicit until the second episode.

It seems weird to give the writer(s) the benefit of the doubt on food being invisible, but not on Mai wanting an excuse to see Sakuta again

I've only seen three episodes of SNAFU before putting it on hold, mostly because I found all of the characters to be really grating. I still like Mai and Bunny Girl overall, though, so you never know! It isn't always as simple as not liking a specific archetype.

What do you guys think of Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu? Found it while looking around top MAL anime, I usually like historical stuff but rakugo doesn't seem to be a very interesting premise.

I havent seen it, but a couple people here liked it quite a bit from what I remember

I've seen both seasons. A lot of people seem to think it's like one of the greatest shows ever and for like a while I would have agreed but I do find that the characters act incredibly stupid just for the sake of adding in drama into the show. On top of that, the endings to both seasons are really bad. I do think the other things in the show are really good, like the acting, overall way they present the story and themes, the progression of the characters, etc. TBH the rakugo is very entertaining overall and really highlights the level of talent they had for the show.

It's fantastic, whether you're into to rakugo or not.

I do think both season fumble their endings pretty hard, though not in their entirety, just in one element.

The hilarious thing about S1's ending is S2 retcons the ending into being awesome.

The main thing on the end of S1 is that they spend the entire season building up to what happened in the past that led up to the shows start and when you actually see the events unfold why and how it happened is just like "oh, that's pretty dumb" and the way it was portrayed in animation was even worse.

In S2 the ending is just a "why did they think this development was a good idea?"

Note: I don't actually remember if that was the "ending" of S1. But that is what I consider to be the climax of the season and like the point where my perception of the show drastically changed.
