diet pepsi (gross)

If it's gross, why not try regular pepsi? Or a different soda?

Because I don't want the sugar and my work only has pepsi stuff. It's Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Minute Made lemonade, Mountain Dew, Rootbeer and raspberry tea.

Plus, I prefer coke over pepsi in general.

It's why I said I try to drink water over the soda but sometimes I just need a quick shake up of flavor.

I like to switch flavors every once in a while, too. But I usually switch to something I like instead of something I think is gross... I'd stick with boring instead of gross...

That's fair enough.

I haven't had a can of soda in 4 years now. That shit was really hard to quit back then but I am so happy I no longer drink it because it absolutely disgusts me now every time I see it. And this is comming from someone who drank it for years. But yeah. It's deffinitly not impossible to quit something altogether that's bad for you. If I can do it, anyone can.

I've gone on and off. I never liked it from the can, though, aluminum leaves a nasty taste, you can't re-seal a can, and it's more expensive buying cans anyway. I would always go with the 2-liter bottles. Nowadays I have soda when getting meals and occasionally pick up 2-liter bottles when they're on sale for a buck. Even when I drink soda, I also have water, though. It's not like one replaces the other, although I might drink slightly less water.

Free Mountain Dew and raspberry tea sounds awesome. Sierra Mist is the worst soda I have ever had.

I'd be fine with the Mountain Dew and Seirra Mist, but I've never been a fan of the flavored teas. Raspberry sounds good, but it's probably not for me... But are they actually free. I thought he meant they had Pepsi vending machines...

Depends on the job. Most office jobs will have free stuff within a limit except coffee. Depends on the tea. Brisk is really good which is what Pepsi owns.

Ah. The only free things we had at work was coffee. We had a snack bar, but you paid for that. Unless someone higher up came and paid for a bunch o stuff in advance.

Also, I like Brisk. But I'd rather have their lemonade or other drinks. Like, I think I like the flavor of tea, but it's not sweet enough. Or maybe it's not flavored enough or something. IDK...

Can't say that most offices I've worked in have had free stuff (except water and coffee), that seems like kind of a rarity. Granted, the one place that did have free stuff was crazy generous with the free stuff.

I don't know the per-volume prices offhand, but there's no way that cans would be cheaper. Aluminum is more expensive than plastic. As for 2-liters going flat, that might be a matter of you not tightening the cap enough, unless you're talking over the course of like a week or something.

Some companies I've worked at had free soda, others charged with vending machines (and I specify charged with vending machines because there are vending machines where the stuff is free).

I've never really did the math. But it's usually cheaper for me because of the sales. I can probably do the math next time I go to the store, though.

Usually, it's fine the first night, and sometimes the second. But by the third, it's usually flat... most of the time. There have been the odd occasion when it wasn't. Either way, I think can are better for me because I like to mix up my drinks pretty often. And that's harder with bottles. Especially 2 liters, since they take up a lot of fridge space...Where I can throw a bunch of can with different flavors in those bottom drawers...

You mean high end offices then, not high end office jobs. And while tech startups may be generous with fringe benefits, they're a super-minority of companies. The vast majority of businesses don't operate like that, big or small.

Speaking of fringe benefits, last year I interviewed at a place that covered 100% dental. I hadn't even heard of that being done before (which led me to asking for clarification) and the dental plans at most places I worked pretty much sucked, if they even offered one. Then earlier this year I had a phone interview with a place that covered 100% medical *and* dental... but then they put hiring on hold. That one was going to be quite a bit less money than what I'm earning now, but I figured I'd make part of it up on healthcare savings and the long-term earnings might have been better.

The 2-liters also go on sale >_> Plus, if you don't return it for the recycling (which I don't, I just use my home bin), you're only losing a nickel vs a nickel per can. (Come to think of it, I'm not 100% sure all states even charge deposit. The people running CT just tend to be complete assholes.)

I'm going to be completely honest: When I open a 2-liter, it's not lasting more than two days most of the time. Granted, when I go to family gatherings, etc, and I just take the leftover soda nobody wants, the open bottles still maintain their flavor 5 or 6 days afterward when I give the cap a good twist.

It's like every week at most retailers. The value can vary, but at least one brand tends to be on sale. And if your grocer, pharmacy store, etc, doesn't have it sale, another one usually does. Grocers tend to make you buy in bulk whereas a lot of the smaller stores cap how many you can buy (and CVS has weekly caps now).

Honestly, whether I bother buying soda on any given week usually depends on the price because I hate further overpaying on overpriced sugar water.

Place I used to work at even charged for the coffee. They had one of those coffee "pod" machines, but it used a proprietary pod that you couldn't buy anywhere else, so if you wanted coffee, you had to pay like $2 a cup. Then they outlawed bringing your own coffee maker.

I just gave them the middle finger and brought a jar of instant coffee. The hot water was still free.
