We call all mac and cheese "kraft dinner"
all tissues are kleenex, all adhesive bandages are bandaids, etc ... Now, this SEEMS like a universal thing, people just not caring about specificity - but I heard TWICE this last week that this is a mostly Canadian thing so IDK, I'm asking. --- "Salt cures Everything!" Don't know. Can't remember hearing it called that while living there and didn't really eat much mac&cheese in the US other than when I was really young.

I never heard the "kraft dinner" thing, but kleenex and bandaids are very common in the US. It is calling things by their brand name rather then their actual product name. It is pretty common everywhere.

I've heard "KD" used to refer to any boxed instant mac & cheese, but legitimate mac & cheese is always mac & cheese.

i refer to tissues as Kleenex, bandages as Bandaids. But this US born gal assumes all mac & cheese is Kraft (the king of mac & cheese as a kid. Blue box with school bus yellow or go away).
I refer to medicines like ibuprofen as Advil, even generic. I'll just say 'generic advil'. As a military kid, I think of the 'generic' brands as the black and white boxes, labels and containers from the base commissaries! and homemade mac & cheese isn't mac & cheese, it's macaroni bake. I just learned that the Kraft mac and cheese is only called Kraft Dinner here in Canada, and that makes that South Park episode with the Canadian giant that eats only Kraft Dinner way funnier.

Saying "Kraft Dinner" in Canada is like saying "Mac and Cheese" in the states. Both are the same products by the same company (Macaroni and Cheese dinner).

Like how, in the US, people in the South will refer to all soda ( I think by this point Kleenex and Band-Aid has become pretty universal, but "Kraft Dinner" is definitely a thing localized in some parts of Canada. There's no Kraft Dinner in the UK but most people I know call all vacuum cleaners "Hoovers" and I have heard "Kleenex" as a generic term for tissues, as well. Though that second one might be from American TV.

Kraft Dinner is exclusively a Canada thing. Ive known some people that always say Kleenex regardless of brand but most people say tissues.
We do have a weird thing in the US though where all stores seem to use the name Bath Tissue to describe what everybody actually calls toilet paper --- If they drag you through the mud, it doesnt change whats in your blood ... Copied to Clipboard!

In South Africa we call Mac and Cheese Mac and Cheese and adhesive bandages are called plasters while tissue is tissue. Soft drinks (or soda) we call cold drinks or cool drink.
