I love my Galaxy but the way they try to shoehorn this terrible platform into everything in an undeniably intrusive and irritating way makes me wonder what the fuck they're doing sometimes.

I have a theory that Bixby is the pet project of the CEOs son and he's got those proud parent blinkers on too much to see how damaging it is to their product.

FYI when you disable the button bringing up Bixby, you can still hold it down to bring up the voice search thing.

Bixby is an app on Samsung phones that they're trying desperately to make everybody's personal assistant. It's supposed to be like a clever little AI bot that does everything for you.

Instead it's this annoying as fuck intrusive bit of bloatware that spams you with messages and updates. Even worse it takes up an entire button on a phone that only has 3 buttons to start with.

Honestly I really like bixby on my new note 9 so far. I use it to set timers, check weather, etc. Best part is that I can use it in the car to select specific songs and it will actually play them off Spotify so I don't have to scroll and type while I drive

and it's no good at its job. I ask it basic questions and instead of just giving me the answer it'll pull up the web browser with like 10 search queries. Bitch I don't want to read the answer. Google assistant, Siri and even Alexa will tell me the weather if I ask. Why does this dummy think I need help navigating to a weather website?

I just find it convenient for reminders and alarms, that way I don't have to go into the apps to do it manually. Otherwise I don't use it for anything else.

I wish my Pixel had a voice assistant button like the Samsung phones, though it would have to be Google Assistant obviously. Squeezing the phone to activate it kind of sucks.

You can remove that feature as well well. While at the Bixby screen, gesture like you want to zoom out and the screen will minimize and you can select to turn it off.

But that's not what Bixby is for. It's not meant to be a web search assistant. It's purpose is to allow you to use and navigate your phone with just your voice.

In any case, I really don't use it. I disabled the button and never looked back since I think all voice assistants are gimmicks.
