Or option 3, which ISNT the racist option youre going for: states with gun regulations have higher population density in cities and thus regardless of racial make-up are more likely to feature gun violence.

Meanwhile, extremely lax gun regulations in states like Louisiana, Alaska, Montana, have much higher rates of gun violence per capita.

Except Houston exists....

So 3 is dead.

It is now officially one or two

Either gun laws prompt gun violence in America (shown by every study ever) or you can go the city make up route.

Honestly, I almost respect Trump for this?

It's maybe the first time the "money vs morals" dichotomy of associating with Saudi has been laid out so plainly by a leading political figure. Let the people decide.

https://globalnews.ca/news/4536509/u-s-wont-ban-canadian-pot-workers/

phew

as a canadian pot worker going to blizzcon in a few weeks, i was legitimately concerned about this ban

So I posted this in the last topic

i'm actually curious, how do americans generally view the fact that cannabis is legal in Canada next week?

Brief background on me: I'm an accountant for a large chain of liquor stores in Canada. With marijuana legalization happening, it seemed obvious to us to expand into that market as the regulations are very similar and we already have relationships with the government agencies that will be controlling the market.

We've actually had a lot of red tape issues with the US Government being rather hostile to companies associating with the business, as it's viewed as "international criminal activity". My company has holdings in US liquor companies, so there's issues with us moving money between our operations. If we take money from our US operations, they see it as "funding international criminal activity". If we move money down, then those operations are now "funded by international criminal activity." And we've had issues working with big vendors like banks that don't want to work with us because they are worried about getting heat from the US government too.

And then there's been this thing where we could get banned or even detained when entering the US because of our ties to cannabis.

So how does the average American view this stuff? Do you guys think it's weird Canada is legalizing weed? Do you see the companies in that industry as criminals? Am I the bad guy?

I'm sure a lot of people here are pro legalization, but I know there's some staunch anti weed legalization advocates around here like Sephg.

I really don't see the purpose behind continuing to keep weed criminalized, beyond just maintaining the racism that led to it being criminalized in the first place. We overturned prohibition, and alcohol is FAR more harmful to your health (and the health of others, if you're someone that goes drunk driving) than weed will ever be.

While I don't disagree with the overall message, driving high is pretty equatable to driving drunk. Neither should be happening.

Good point SEP. I know a lot of dudes who think driving high is normal. To be honest, it's one of my biggest reasons for supporting legalization, so that driving high can be come more of a public discussion point like driving drunk is. It's not something people talk about because "you aren't supposed to smoke weed to begin with"

You would need to survey people who smoked pot in Colorado not just survey accidents in Colorado and see if there was an increase of any kind. It would probably have to be a longer term study.

Correlation isn't causation after all. Accidents might have gone up for any number of reasons

Correlation isn't causation, but that doesn't mean that studies that examine results after a change are useless. they just aren't definitive.

One thing Ive seen noted (which doesnt make the story any less gross, but is important to emphasize) is that people being held up by the exact match bullshit can still vote if they bring a valid ID. Its really important that these people dont stay home because they think they cant vote at all when they still can if they jump through the stupid and unnecessary hoop.

How is this replicated on a federal level? What position do we need? We need to make it more difficult to vote, not easier. Ive said for years the worst thing ever (that idiots want) is for voting to be online. 1: because flat out Dems will cheat. Point blank period, there is no way this can be done that they wont continue to cheat, only now much easier. But more important 2: If you are not willing to put even the smallest effort into voting, you almost assuredly have no idea what ANYONE stands for or against, and are just voting for whats popular and or you were told to do by some idiot celebrity.

And there is pretty much ZERO way an illegal can vote with Exact match.

Just to be clear...

When it comes to rape accusations, it's vital that we ensure no innocent man is ever punished, to the point where 94 guilty men go free.

But when it comes to voter fraud, it's important to fuck over plenty of innocent voters just to ensure that "illegals" don't cast ballots (without evidence that they're doing so.)

Is that what you're saying, because that's what it seems like you're saying?

Are you comparing not voting to 20 years of prison....? Stop doing that.

And I said all crimes. Rape is a crime. But it wasnt specific.

There is PLENTY of evidence of illegals voting. And they were just thrown in, the real thing I am on here is having voting have a slight one nconvenience for everyone. I personally want to have it where it takes mandatory 3 hours to register to vote. Make it so the voters have quote unquote earned it.

I dont see how making every one wait in 3 hour lines is somehow stacking the deck, except low info voters vote D at a FRIGHTENING degree, and your voter block is lazy as shit and scared by rain (while Republican voter blocks go out in monsoon type weather) so they wouldnt do it.
