I just found out that my local park has added a free disc golf course and I'm interested in trying it out. Anyone play disc golf how do you like it?

I have. It's been years. I threw a hole in one once.

I think it is better to play with friends. I have seen some play alone, but for me its like golf. I play it more as something to do while hanging out and talking with friends.

Yes. I love it but I don't play much anymore. I got lyme from a tick I picked up on the course. Then two years later I got bit by another, got sick again, and underwent more antibiotics.

Btw I talked to the co owner of disc craft at work once. I was hoping to get a chance to talk frolf but she was one of the most nasty people I have ever talked to in my entire life; and that's saying something, I work in a call center. I'll never buy their products now. All innova for me.

I have a few times. I've never played real golf and this was much cheaper to try. The first time I went was at a beach course and it was pretty windy. Being the first go, I didn't have all the control and had to fetch the disc out of poison ivy a few times. Last time I went (same course) it was INFESTED with mosquitoes. Like you hit one and 2 more land while you brush away the wreckage.

Anyways it is fun. Easy for anyone to get into, usually cheap if not free to play. Depending where it is though they may not get all the same care a ball golf would.

It is fun, played it a few times and I own a set of disks.

BTW, most of the bad experiences people have with disk golf is parks convert themselves to "disk golf courses" because it is actually cheaper to maintain a disk gold course then a public park. Disk golf courses have next to no actual regulations so all they really need to do is mow the grass once a month (maybe not even that depending on the location).

So yea, no keeping out bugs, or poison ivy, or anything like that.

It's okay, but I prefer regulation golf.

I didn't mean to imply the course I tried was unkempt. The ivy was in the out of bounds areas. Once you get some practice keeping the discs on the course then stuff like that is less of an issue. But yeah they tend to be set in the woods if not built into a normal course so they don't get the same maintenance.

One course didn't really make it clear where the next hole was. Since there were no gates or attendants it was a totally free game. The third course I tried was the closest to 'official' with 18 holes set in a wooded area and par 5 holes.

Yeah, it's fun, but I haven't played in over a year now cause I don't live near a course. If you don't want to buy a new disc you can hunt the course for lost discs (especially in any water hazards, though it isn't a good time of year to get wet depending on where you live). Or sometimes courses will have people selling used ones. I also got some factory defect ones direct from Innova, which supposedly are just cosmetic issues that don't affect performance.
