At work we're allowed to have one ear bud in listening to music, leaving one out to still hear things.

I only use over-ear when on a plane watching a movie or when gaming.

I prefer in-ear for other times. Problem is my ears are deformed and buds fall out so I have to use wrap around things.

That's what I do also although I never asked. We have policies about no electronics on the floor but no one even the plant manager has told me no about it.

In-ear all the way, even when I'm on PC.
I use full sized headphones only when I'm playing a game that requires good positional audio.

We're allowed to, just can't be sitting on our phones during work for longer than it takes to change song or shoot a text.
