Also, nothing that really takes to long, please. I don't know when I will get home tonight. And I wake up around 5 or so in the morning to get ready. And I still need sleep. So, I'm kind of looking for quick. And something I won't need lots of ingredients for. Maybe something I can buy pretty quick. I think someone said pasta of something before. Or carbs. Or something...

A couple of dark chocolate-peanut butter kind bars. Some sugars to replenish muscle glycogens quickly and protein for sustained running.

Eat then right before any run. Don't worry about the night before.

Yeah pasta/carbs are good, long term energy and not heavy. Go for some veggies as well, and just a dab of protien...in fact I'd suggest a chicken/veggie stir fry.

Some onions/bell peppers (mushrooms if you like them), stir fried with just about 1/2 a chicken breast (sliced very thin), add in some nice pasta and terriyaki/sechuan sauce/spices for flavor. Very yummy and should last you awhile energy wise....not super heavy though, and quite good for you.

Also easy fast to make even from scratch but if you do it often, you can cut up the ingrediants and put em in baggies in the fridge, then just grab what you want and stir fry it in about 5-10 minutes (less time then it takes to boil the water and cook the pasta).

Super fast, super cheap and super yummy (flavored to your taste/spicyness level etc).

You can do beef or pork as well, chicken is the most healthy and very cheap though. You can get Chicken breasts for sale at safeway for about $1.30 or so when they have a sale and then just freeze em.....good for months..and they'll have another sale before you use it all probably.

Oh, should mention, if you are REALLY in a rush you can also make a bunch of pasta and just store that in baggies as well. Lasts for 3-4 days easy, so if your going to have that as a regular meal, you can basically just do the prep twice a week. You can switch off what veggies you use as well, along with the meat, so it isn't the same thing every day.

Not a fan of onions or peppers. I like mushrooms, but only sauted... But that seems like a lot of stuff I'll need and lots of time. I feel like it would take a good amount of time, and I don't know how to stir fry stuff. I can do certain things when cooking, but that isn't one of them. But I need stuff for basically tonight only. Just something small and quick to make and eat.

You want carbs to fuel up your glycogen stores

Also if its a long run it can really help to have a little squeeze pouch of applesauce or something similar for the halfway point

Those were only suggestions Link, if you have ever had mongolian bbq, it's basically the same thing you buy what you want.

It really isn't much work at all in fact.

If you like brocolli, they sell small packages of brocolli florets at safeway for $3 (often on sale for $2.50)....it's the 1 pound bag instead of the 2 pound bags for $5. The advantage here is that you can microwave them in the bag, no need for a pot water etc. Then just reheat the portion you don't use next time.

Do the pasta thing, with some brocolli, and get a chicken breast or whatever meat you want, cut it very thin (easiest to do when frozen, but honestly sticking it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes after you bring it home should get it hard enough (that's what she said).

The actual real trick is to figure out what combo of sauce you like on your pasta...teryiki/sechuan/oyster sauce/sessame oil etc. That along with garlic/pepper (red pepper flakes) etc....will make just the pasta delicious forget about what ever else you add.

If you like any veggies at all, add em in. You sautee it all together, so those mushrooms you said you like, are perfect (and they come pre-sliced already).

Can be a really quick meal to put together, but, I mean if you want simple, just do pasta with a Prego sauce (heat up the sauce) and some grated parm cheese and bam, you got a fast meal that is high in carbs.

I don't think they'll allowed me to eat at the halfway point. Plus, I'm timed...

You add seeds in it? Also, I probably would, but I don't have a blender. Well, I might. Though if I did have one, it's probably not mine... Though, I won't have to run for another 6 months.
