...so if I cut my leg really bad, I HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL? I can't rely on my friend who has experience in cuts and things and such? I have to go to the so-called professionals and authorities? I can't do it on my own? What a crock of shit!!!

You're being almost too ridiculous to argue with. False equivalency aside, TC seems to have issues going on that are deeper than a cut to the leg. Not to mention, physical injuries are far less complicated to treat than mental issues are. Sure, friends can potentially help if you're just feeling a little down but for deeper issues it's best to ya know... seek help from someone who has actually went to school for mental health. Plus, like mead said, he may not have friends like that. Not everyone does. All you're doing is discouraging him from getting the help he needs which i happen to think is pretty lousy of you. You'd rather get on a high horse about something than recommend the best option

You want to target me, and make me feel bad? I'm the only person in this thread giving him real advice and real encouragement. I related my own experiences with anger, and told him what I know. I wrote about breathing techniques and letting things go. Meanwhile, you guys just what to be hostile dickweeds.

No I'm no trying to make you feel bad. This isnt about you. I'm sure that whatever you've said hasn't truly helped the TC. He needs a professional. Quit trying to act like you're a fucking expert. You arent. Breathing techniques arent going to help someone with anxiety and depression linked to alcoholism.

@_EggplantWizard thanks for the support. Thanks to everyone else as well.

I know this isn't much of an accomplishment yet, but today is my first day without cigarettes. Part of the reason why i'm quitting now is because of a pain i feel in my throat, a cancer scare.

I talked to the girl yesterday again. She asked me how much i smoked that day alone. I told her the truth, roughly 44 cigs, rolled cigarettes and cigarellos combined. She was very positive and gave me many ideas. She told me i should start cooking, which I think is a great idea. I told her i'm going away for a few days. I promised her good news when i get back.

I know that weed and alcohol must go out the window as well, cause those two will make me buy a pack for sure.

I have nicotine lozenges, which are a lifesaver. I'm sucking on one right now. I'm hopeful and in good spirits. Though i'm quitting cigarettes, I will not change my lifestyle too much. I will still dance to metal, I will still meet with friends, I just won't have a cigarette in my hand while i do these things.

Overall i feel good.
