The apathy towards the Magic here in Orlando is staggering. We are playing a big rival in the Heat first game and the bar that I am sat in less than a minute walk from the stadium does not fucking have it on and I count 30 TVs downstairs alone

I am personally most curious about the compensation. $125,000 is the figure floated around for these elite high school prospects, but the typical player in the league makes like a third of that.

Yeah I dont know about this. The last true star to come out of high school was lebron and I would be shocked if he let's his son skip out on college. A poster child like that would give it real alternative potential.

Well, that figure is pretty close to what the payment numbers are for the colleges implicated in that scandal, so maybe they're thinking it'll be a deterrent to cheating if they offer a similar amount to play in the G League.

If you're a big prospect though, I think you'd still rather play in college unless you just desperately need the money because you'll never be seen on TV playing in the G League.

Well I assume if you play in the G league instead of college that you can now do what you want sponsorship/money wise as you don't have to follow silly NCAA rules. So really it will be a lot more than 125k depending on the sort of extra income you can generate

I wonder if this will prompt the NCAA to stop being such massive dicks in regards to how college players are effectively paid to prevent them from losing so much top talent which will surely hurt their income

Also I don't know how restricted college basketball practice is but by playing in the G league you can now do as much training as you want right? Whereas in college you are restricted?

The thing is its top x% not whoever wants to come and not top x% after that first x% goes to college

So the pool is say, for example, a group of 15 to 20 guys tops

Fucking Kemba Walker murders us every time we play the Hornets. It drives me crazy.

Also what drives me crazy is when you play really well defensively but the offense plays awful and then the opponent shoots 50%+ from 3 despite your defense. Like the fuck are you supposed to do when they just hurl it from 3 constantly and they keep going in

But we'd lose regardless of that due to the awful offense anyway
