My ex is from Iran and she told me she would never, EVER, go there. She comes in touch with some of her family that still lives there, but day to day you never know if they're going to be alive or respond to a message. I think Iran has banned Telegram in the past (or possibly have it even banned now), and that makes it more difficult.

The middle east is like this because of religious powers, resource powers and powerful foregin nations supplying all sides with weapons to kill each other with on top of that backing brutal dicators so long as they are friendly to them, which they always turn out not to be, resulting in those countries fueling resistance groups that eventually turn into terror cells.

What's worse is now private milltias like Blackwater are becoming increasingly intertwined int these conflicts making it even more profitable to make these people keep fighting.

The only way it's going to end is with everyone in the middle east dead and even then, it's not going to be the end of fighting because countries like China, Russia and the United States will be heavily fighting for that land as it's resources and position on the planet are a net gain for them all.

I guess the short answer on why the middle east is like this is human greed.
