Love that game so much. The story was fantastic and the OST is legit one of the best gaming OSTs ever, if not the best. The gameplay was really good too (though I can't help but compare it a bit unfavorably with DMC/Bayonetta). It was just all around amazing.

Less than that really. You only need to replay about 1/2 of the game twice. The last 1/2 you only have to play once.

It's weird, but it gave me feelings I haven't felt towards a game since the PS2 era. I think it cared more about being a game than being some realistic 'next gen' experience or something like that. That plus the music, the themes. The game just clicked with me SO HARD.

I thought it was great but yeah it does seem a bit overrated here. Overall I think the reception was just about right though.

I think the feelings that a lot of people got with Nier Automata I already had with Undertale (and some other narrative indie games) so that could be a factor too.

It's not without it's failings. If you play with a mouse and keyboard, the slightest mouse twitch will cause you to pet the drone, even during the middle of a fight (especially during the middle of a boss fight), and the bosses are all Bullet Hell fights, which is a "strange" choice for a 3rd person action/melee game.

My entire problem with the game is that dodge is broken and removes all difficulty. It should be like Bayonneta and have a limit of consecutive dodges. You can beat the entire game on the hardest difficulty be just spamming dodge and holding the drone shooting button down. It takes forever but it isn't really hard, just tedious. Everything else about the game is amazing.

Yeah if combats bad, i cant play it. I havent tried it yet though. Im sure Ill grab it when its massively on sale

It's not bad combat. It's just Bayonetta with all the difficulty removed (you even get chips that give you a Witch Time equivalent), but even still it's a Platinum Games action game. You know the combat is going to be good.

TBH the gameplay is fine being discount Bayonetta because Yoko Taro just wanted his game to have a good story AND gameplay, something Nier 1 got a lot of flak for not doing

Huh? I played Undertale before Nier as well and I don't get how you could get the same feeling seeing as the themes were much heavier.

Same, I played Undertale back when it came out. I loved that game too but it didn't 'click' with me at all like Nier. The ways life try to make the best of what they got even in futile situations, dealing with depression, finding your purpose in an existence that really has no purpose. These kind of themes really clicks with me.
