So if I choose Always lie, does that mean what I literally say has to be a lie? For example I could say "I would LOVE to eat at Arby's! Their food is great and inexpensive!" in a very sarcastic tone, so my literal words are a lie, but people know what I really mean?
---
Bosses are immune to the eat command so it won't be possible to end the final boss fight of the game by eating it.

tbh, it's easier to get around the "always lie" clause than it is to get around the "always tell the truth" clause.

Lie by omission. My normal life doesn't require lying so this is easy.

If you have all not seen this yet, this is JourneyQuest. It's funny and my DM's wife actually knows all the actors and worked with some of em. Anyway, there is a great character in here who always has to lie. I love this series.

Telling the truth easy. I mean I generally do that anyway and the white lies I tell on occasion can be brushed aside. I'll probably seem a bigger arsehole but eh.

Just cause you always tell the truth (or almost always) does not mean you need to tell ALL of the truth. Hence the fae version of telling the truth.

I tend not to lie, I don't even remember what I have said before, and well, as you can tell by my posts, I'm a stream of consciousness type of guy, that goes for talking as well...so lying in such a situation isn't really that great of an idea.

I just don't have to tell everything, or what I say can be the truth, but it could imply something else etc. Long as you don't lie, you don't have to keep your story straight (ack did i just quote judge judy?!)

Not telling someone isn't a lie. You are just not saying something. If you have to say something, you can always say that you would rather not talk about it. Or you would rather not answer that question...

Oh I'm well aware. Technically you're not lying if you don't tell someone something. It all depends the question you're asked.

Truth i guess. The how are you small talk would probably get a bit awkward but outside of that all should be fine. All lies would be just a bit inconvenient.

Truth. Though the blunt version of it could cause harm so I'd have to work on my wording on some occasions.

Always lie, if only because it gives you more flexibility in your responses.

For instance, suppose you hate your boss and are in a meeting with him and your manager and, in making small talk, your manager asks "So, what's it like working in Bob's team?"

If you have to tell the truth, you'll have to say how awful it is and what an incompetent boss he is. If you have to lie, your options are basically anything but that. If you have to kiss ass because a promotion is on the line, you can paint it up as the greatest thing ever. On the other hand, if you don't want to give your boss too much credit, you can say something as simple as "It is a continually interesting experience."

By the same token, if you're confronted with something you *want* to tell the truth on (like "When is that report going to be ready?") there are all sorts of ways you can lie about immaterial details that still would technically be a lie. In that case, if you're expecting it to be done by mid-day on Wednesday, you could say "I'm expecting to be finished around 5:00 on Wednesday." It's a lie, but one that scarcely makes a difference (and it will even look good if you come in a few hours early).

Yeah best piece of advice I got from one guy in life was always tell the truth, but if no one asks you don't feel obligated to share the truth.

Me I'd choose always tell the truth. I lie very rarely to the point I can't even remember the last time I did.
