If one was home schooled wouldn't the decision fall to the parents most of the time or something?

Yeah, I'm not sure why he'd think it'd be up to the kids.

There are others who were home-schooled on this board. I know of one. And I believe I've heard of a few others, as well...

Not me. People always ask me this because I'm so socially awkward, but the truth is, that I haven't actually bothered to find social activity in public school or college until now.

i was. my dad took me out of high school in my sophomore year to homeschool me. prior to that i was not homeschooled. he took me out because i was not participating in class, so he said there was no reason for me to continue my public schooling. he went with me to every single one of my classes for one day because i was failing several classes. i am 28 now, and looking back at it, he probably made the right decision. i just did not care at all. i remember doing a school project and not turning it in because everyone else in the class went over the top with their projects, while my project was just basic.

also, when i said i didn't care, i meant that i did not care about school at all. in my sophomore year i stopped studying for tests. i stopped doing homework for the most part. i did that project for an english class and did not turn it in.

throughout my whole school life, i always did enough to make it to the next grade level. i was never held back. i am actually surprised that i never had to repeat a grade, but i think i was in deep trouble in my sophomore year. so my dad taking me out was probably for the best.

the funny thing is my brother was pretty much the same as me. he is only a year younger than me. but something happened to him in his sophomore year of high school. he just started taking things seriously. i have no idea where he found the motivation and determination. we grew up in the same environment, but he was more determined than me. he graduated with a degree in molecular biology with a minor in chemistry from san jose state, then he joined the air force. i went to a community college and got my associates in math, and then took computer science classes. i am still taking classes to get my degree in computer science, but i most likely will never use it. i like working for the usps.

Partially because our school district sucks, its one of, if not the worst school district in Illinois, and partially because religious reasons, but I wasn't some shut in, I had friends that were other homeschoolers and through boy scouts, I even took classes at a co op (it's a group of homeschoolers that take classes together, usually by a homeschool mom that was a professional in that subject, I had a math professor teach me and a Senate lawyer)

Maybe technically? I went to a "Christian school" for a few years which was run out of someone's home in the ghetto and had probably less than 10 students.

My younger brother did one of those online high schools for a while, where they would give him assignments to do and he would just play xbox until it was time for him to get his GED

Hes about to graduate with his bachelors though so I guess he knew what he was doing

Doubtful, since both parents work in a lot of households and even the stay-at-home-moms don't want to be bothered with that. It's really not the kind of thing people just enter into lightly.

Maybe it was the fact that he saw you were taken out of school and realized he had to get his shit together?
