Has anyone watched this series? I am just gushing over this show. Absolutely unbelievably good in every way imaginable.

I've never been a huge fan of horror. In fact, I've often wondered if the horror genre even existed. Every time I went to see a "horror" movie or "horror" show, I left with the feeling that I just watched a thriller with a few jump scares. And maybe that's all horror is, or that's what I thought.

But then a show like this comes along, and it showed me exactly what horror is supposed to look like. This show got under my skin, and I am not ashamed to say that as a grown man, when I went to bed after watching a few of the episodes, I gave the closets a little extra long stare and felt that uneasy fear that I hadn't felt since being a child.

This isn't just a horror show either, it's a well scripted and well acted series that works like an onion, slowly unraveling the mystery as each episode progresses. If you have Netflix and you have not watched this series, I implore you to watch it. I'm not alone in this either, this show is barely a week old, but it is already one of the most highest rated shows of the year and one of the most talked about at the moment.

To me it's not really that scary, it does have it's jump scares though. It's just a well written and acted story.

There was an article I saw about how the show actually led some people to be unable to sleep with the lights off or even vomit, and while I think that is just silly, the horror here is not solely in the jump scares and ghouly images. Both of those exist in the show, but they aren't overused. Jump scares are very seldom, but timely. It's the story that can get horrifying, and it takes some time in the series to build up to some of the more unsettling aspects.

How long does it take to get good? I watched the first episode and wasn't feeling it at all.

Each of the first 5 episodes center around one of the siblings. Looking back, episode 1 was easily my least favorite of the sibling-centric episodes. It starts picking up well by episode 2, all leading up to the conclusion in episode 5, which almost acts like a midseason finale with the punch it packs. Episode 6 then kind of begins again with the push to the ultimate conclusion at episode 10.

I tried spotting some of the hidden ghosts but thats just ep. 1. More focused on the characters

I heard about that too. I caught a few of the more obvious ones during my watchthrough, but I just read an article showing all the hidden ghosts and I missed a bunch.

So I actually just finished the series (my topic post was after finishing episode nine).

A brilliant series through and through. There are some many twists in this series, it's crazy. Even if you're smart enough to catch a few of them beforehand (as a lot of the twists get a few breadcrumbs handed to you before the reveal), you're not going to catch them all. They will take you by surprise and blow your mind.

I read online a bit that there was some unhapiness from some people on how it ended, and I get it because... (please don't read unless you've finished watching it, though I say nothing specificly plot related) ...the show has a happy ending. To think such a dark, disturbing show would have a happy ending just seems wrong oddly. But ironically it's probably one of the most underrated twists in a show full of twists. The only thing that I maybe side with the complainers with is that even the house gets a somewhat happy ending, or at least a silver lining.

Nevertheless, my opinion of this show has not changed, and it will stay with me for a while. In fact, I'll probably rewatch the series in a few weeks. Now that I know all the secrets, it'll be fun to watch everything unfold with that new perspective.

Bottom line. Do yourself a favor. If you want some amazing entertainment, go watch this show. I do not stand on a soapbox about tv shows often or at all really, but this is a must-see show.

Also, lately every night right after I turn out the lights and hop into bed thats the first thing I think about, lol.

s it just me, or do the actresses who play adult Kate, Nelly and the mother of the family all look like they are actually related? It was confusing trying to tell who was who at first.
