My mom recently went to the doctor for a regular checkup and did some bloodwork. Tons of abnormalities came back, and they found out her kidneys are only working at about 20%. Really scary.
Theyre doing a kidney biopsy soon to figure out what it is(to hopefully eliminate that its cancer). But, Ive been reading online that family members donate kidneys all the time, as we have 2 and can function perfectly fine with just one. Mentally preparing myself for this. I had a kidney transplant. From what I know, its really not a big deal donating a kidney as your body can function perfectly normally with just one. Also, the surfer itself leaves a very minor scar, youll be out of the hospital in 3 days

Id have serious second thoughts on that. Especially if you plan on drinking alcohol, coffee, or soda to any considerable degree going forward. Though I wouldnt try to dissuade you. Its your life.
