While the death penalty does significantly deter criminals, I think sociopathic people such as seriel killers arent effected

It doesnt deter criminals.

Yes it does. Every statistic proves it. It's also logical. Let me ask you: would you Jay walk if the punishment was capital punishment?

Post those stats that prove it. Your question is too dumb to answer.

It's not dumb. You are saying it doesn't deter criminals. I gave you a hypothetical that you know your answer is that you wouldn't Jay walk this proving that it does in fact deter criminals. If you think the same thing doesn't happen on a bigger scale, you are delusional. You literally know logic proved my point because we both know neither you or asagi would Jay walk if that was the punishment. The conclusion this hypothetical proves is that capital punishment deters crime

Post the stats. You have no understanding of logic.
You had to take it to an absurd crime to prove your point. Would someone steal to feed their family if the penalty was death? Maybe. Now quit arguing nonsense and post the stats that prove it's a deterrent like you originally argued.

You can Google the stats. I can post them and I'm sure you will find something to nitpick which is why I gave you an easier answer. One you can't not pick: simple logic. You literally proved with your own answer that capital punishment deters crime by saying you wouldn't Jay walk. But if you still need the actual stats because, for some Reason, you don't trust your own logic, I'm happy to post them after this episode of castlevania

Post 54 as well as looking at the actual crime and not the absurd jay walking example destroy your attempt at logic.

Except they don't. You call it absurd because you simply don't like to admit defeat and admit what it really is: proof

Oh, and the flaw in logic in post 54 is that crimes are more worth risking if the only punishment is being taken care of your entire life outside freedom.

As people are prone to ignore laws and rules that seem superfluous, it won't be deterrent enough to make people stop it, and in so doing there will be dozens of people unjustly killed by such an asinine law.

That wasn't the question. Are you going to keep dodging it? I'm curious as to why you are avoiding posting your answer?

20 of the top 25 states that lead the US in murders have the death penalty.

11 of the 25 States with the lowest murder rates have it.

How's it deterring crime?

Ok, so we both have stats. I already expected that. Which is why I suggested you merely use common sense to give you the obvious answer hence an easy example for you. The only crime that the punishment might not phase is drug charges and that's only because addicts gonna addict

It's not supposed to. It would significantly lower it which is the point.

2003 study he co-authored, and a 2006 study that re-examined the data, found that each execution results in five fewer homicides, and commuting a death sentence means five more homicides. "The results are robust, they don't really go away," he said. "I oppose the death penalty. But my results show that the death penalty (deters) _ what am I going to do, hide them?"

You are looking at it wrong. It isn't about which states have highest death counts. That's a flawed way of thinking. The question is "does it lower the death rate in those states" in which the answer is a resounding yes
