I had mafia mastered in like a month of playing on AIM.

We play Werewolf(mafia offshoot) out at my school and I dominate every single time.

Chris was one of the better players I played with/against, so as a master in this craft I think his opinion is pretty valid.

It doesn't work well as a board game (it's been tried), but it's a game for 5-10 that has a similar premise. The scum know each other, and the goal is for 3 of 5 missions to succeed by picking teams that will succeed them (one fail on a mission usually fails the whole thing).

I typically play the Avalon version that also includes Merlin who knows who scum are. But at the end of the game scum gets one shot to kill who they think Merlin is to win.

I personally feel like i'm a much better resistance player than I am mafia player, but that has a lot to do with it being in person I think.

Though iirc the few real time online games we did I wasn't half bad at either.

It amazes me how many B8ers are... REALLY good at some of the nerd shit we're good at. I remember we sent like 5 of the top 10 into a Smogon Pokemon tournament back in the day. We have some very regionally good Smash players and... well, we have great mafia players too.

IIRC we had some incredibly good speed runners for a time, too.

I think you're better as town than Chris tbh. Chris is really sketch at actually finding leads and as town it feels like he's just RNGing who the scum are. I do think the topics he chose to talk about initially he's very qualified to talk about though.
