I have a very odd question.
Is it possible that a person could have an allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient in toothpaste, that doesnt manifest immediate symptoms (no mouth sores, heart palpitations right after brushing, etc.), but causes long term symptoms like daily dizziness, digestive issues, etc. as the ingredient builds up in their body due to the toothpaste being used every day? Im asking because of a health situation Im going through, so this isnt some random stupid question. Whatever is in Sensodyne that reduces tooth sensitivity probably enters the gums, doesnt it? I had to start using it when I got a sinus infection and my gums became extremely painful. It helped a lot and I just kept using it since then.
Im looking at anything that may have changed about my normal routine in early 2017, even something small like a change of toothpaste, because in July 2017 I suddenly became extremely ill, but there were little things happening for a few months prior that make me think something wasnt quite right for a while. Nausea, dizziness and pain have been daily occurrences for me since last summer and its getting very frustrating. I know there are cases where people have used cosmetics or skincare that over time made them feel unwell. Usually those were due to contamination or unsafe ingredients, but things like salycilate sensitivity happen too, where theyre sensitive to an ingredient and it builds up in their body. In theory then, theres no reason why toothpaste couldnt cause issues, but Im curious if theres been real life cases where someones health has changed significantly due to using a different toothpaste. ... Its not possible for toothpaste ingredients to accumulate in your body because most molecules cannot simply diffuse and enter into your bloodstream (unless you perpetually have open wounds in your mouth).
And probably obvious question, but have you considered that a bacterial or viral infection is responsible for your symptoms? It just sounds like youve been sick, especially because you mention you picked up a sinus infection before even switching toothpastes. If you really do think its the toothpaste, simply switch to another toothpaste and see what happens. A small bit of my front tooth is a bit sharper than it should be, I think I chipped it. What should I do? If you dont care about the appearance just leave it alone if its a small chip. If the sharpness bothers you, you can have your dentist shave it a little bit to smoothen it out. Also, I've been using baking soda & peroxide toothpaste, is it bad and should I switch to something else? Just make sure fluoride is an active ingredient in your toothpaste. What do the endodontists that you work with do that you like? What do they do that annoys you? I have a lot of respect for endodontists because I know what they do requires a great deal of skill and practice, so I don't really have too many complaints with the ones I work with. That being said though, Things that I like: -Doing good work, obviously (dense, even fills to working length, smooth access prep, etc.) -Taking good pre-op, mid-op, and post-op X-rays -Finishing cases quickly -Being available for consults and making quick, definite pulpal/periapical diagnoses What annoys me: -If any sealer is left on the walls of the access cavity prep. That stuff is way easier to clean off before it sets -Minor, but for the temporary filling I prefer a cotton pellet over a piece of sponge, which some people like to use. The sponge tends to break off and come out in pieces whereas the cotton pellet comes out cleanly. That sounds awful, I'm really sorry you had to go through all of that. Rereading your posts, if everything happened in the order you told me, I'm inclined to believe that you became ill before any of this happened. Many illnesses can cause hypersensitivity, and that could cause your gums to hurt. The Sensodyne you started using after is then relieving your symptoms and is unrelated to the original illness.
