Ah the classic "calling your opponent an idiot" technique.

I guess I'll put it in PC language. "Someone who repeatedly fails to see the reality of both polling and specific actions of a candidate." I prefer the brevity, but I suppose I'm talking to the mediocre right now.

It's not about being PC. It's just resorting to insults in a debate makes you look bad.

He earlier called me a broken record, I called him an idiot. But somehow I'm the only one that looks bad. Your bias is showing.

Honestly, I don't care if they get rid of Columbus Day, I'm fine with that, but replacing it as a federal holiday with Election Day isn't a fair trade since you're obligated to go out and do stuff on it.

I want a real fucking holiday where I sit on my ass and enjoy my day off, not one where I need to go drive out to the polls and listen to political bullshit all day. Having Election Day off from work is basically like staying home from school, but your teacher sends all the work for the day home with you.

I have never once pretended that I'm not bias.

You literally aren't. You have the right to vote, whether you exercise that right is your choice.

Note I said obligated, not required. I'm 100% supportive of people who choose to not vote.

But bear in mind, even though you're absolutely free to abstain, high-horse people will do everything but spit on you and consider you human garbage if you don't. (Not saying it's right, but them's the breaks unfortunately in our dopey society lol)

She continues to nationalize her office. Nationalizing the office = Republican win. Constituent service = Democrat win.

She won her district with like 80% of the vote

Crowley was under no threat either in that district. I'm not talking so much about her particular race, but how her platform and what she was saying resonated in other districts in a negative way. Of course if she's being a typical politician, she should only care about herself and her district, but she was also accepting this national mantle by going on Colbert and other programs, and she seems guided by a racial politics that made easy wins in swing districts more contested. I don't think the midterms were a total bust, but there should have been way, way more gains than what happened. And I think a lot of that was forsaking traditional voting bases (particularly white women) for this sort of chest poundy "LET'S SHUT THE FUCKER DOWN" stuff that doesn't land on the kitchen table of likely voters.

Do you have any proof whatsoever that she harmed national races? Or are you going to keep repeating this like a broken record?

Her big slogan "Abolish ICE" is a loser issue. Here's all the polling you need on that. Only 1 and 4 support reform when you reframe it as abolishing ICE. About as many people as believe the Sun goes around the Earth.

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/07/11/immigration-ice-abolish-poll-708703

"BUT PLURALITY OF DEMOCRATS!!"... barely, and educated white women are a higher priority vote to get in swing suburban districts.

"BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN SAINT CORTEZ LOST IT!!!"... but I mean if you keep centering your now-national campaign on a slogan that is unpopular and tends to provoke either confusion or genuine disgust, yeah I don't think it's the rest of the world that has the problem here.

Ok so do you have any proof that she harmed national races?

Keep moving the goalposts. It's enough to show that one of her campaign slogans is not a winning issue, and it did get play beyond her district. The establishment liberal media figures amplified it, and all it did was help to energize Trump's base.

But I suppose there's more important principles than winning... like losing.

The establishment Dems didnt amplify it at all, why are you lying constantly?

60-80% of people dont vote because either:

A) Theyre sick and tired of politics
B) The candidates running suck
C) The incumbent will usually always win

Want more people engaged in the political and voting process? Stop shoving socialism down peoples throats. Stop using the media to try to brainwash and indoctrinate people.

It has more to do with how everyone can recognize that their vote doesn't matter, if who they vote for is ultimately decided by a barely democratic process, and who the politicians talk to once elected is a whole bunch of not them. This government is a capitalist dream, everything is for sale for the highest bidder. Then anything that suggests any reform of such a system is shouted down as some bogeyman. Socialism being a big one, even though, not too sure how "every vote is counted" is necessarily a socialist principle.

Columbus Day could be called Explorer's Day to honor guys like Amerigo Vespucci, Sir Francis Drake, even Marco Polo

I thought Vespucci was a cartographer.

He was both.

I guess he's more famous as a cartographer though. He was the first one to show that the Americas were not part of Asia.

He's right though. It frames Election Day off as coming in the context of taking another day away. Cortez needlessly building up her opposition yet again... but that's what the left wants now, hard confrontation, regardless if it is necessary.
