As you may have seen from my earlier post, my husband and I are in the adoption process and were placed with our son in early October. We were at the hospital for his birth and he has been living with us since as we waited for the court date where the birth parents give up their rights and he legally becomes ours.

Birth father is now fighting us for custody.

Adoption agency & our lawyer think he doesn't have much of a case. He's in the US on a visa & was abusive to the birth mother. Birth mother is very firm that she does not want him to have custody or visitation with the child, for everyone's safety. Everything should work out, but god damn is it terrifying that after 2+ months with our son we could lose him.

We only met him once (at the hospital) but he seemed on board. Then he waited almost two months to change his mind. Our lawyer says that is a huge black mark against him that he waited so long.
