Fox and the producers of the television series "Cosmos" have opened an investigation into multiple sexual misconduct claims against the show's host, Neil deGrasse Tyson. The move follows a report on the website Patheos in which two women accused Tyson of inappropriate sexual behavior. "The credo at the heart of 'Cosmos' is to follow the evidence wherever it leads," the producers said in a joint statement. "The producers of 'Cosmos' can do no less in this situation. We are committed to a thorough investigation of this matter and to act accordingly as soon as it is concluded." Fox Broadcasting also issued a statement, saying, "We have only just become aware of the recent allegations regarding Neil deGrasse Tyson. We take these matters very seriously and we are reviewing the recent reports."

In the Patheos article, Dr. Katelyn N. Allers of Bucknell University claimed deGrasse Tyson groped her at an event in 2009. Another woman, Ashley Watson, claimed in the article that she quit her former job as Tyson's assistant in response to repeated inappropriate sexual advances he made toward her. Both allegations came to light roughly a year after musician Tchiya Amet claimed that Tyson raped her when they were both graduate students.

One of the accusers details how Tyson grabbed her arm to study her body-wide tattoo of the solar system, and then tried to find Pluto by following the tattoo into her dress.

Smooth. But sounds fake. I mean, come on.

The other speaks about how, when she was working for Tyson, he invited her to his apartment and allegedly made advances on her.

She went?

When she confronted him about it the following day, she says that he told her she would never advance through the ranks because she was too distracting.

That's a pretty shitty thing to say, tbh.

The second accuser did report the event to a sexual harassment hotline.

It is true but he did nothing. As I understand with the lady who went to his room she said no after some drinks and he stopped. At worst he was inappropriate. I trust he will be okay and this will be dealt with quickly.

Not if he groped Dr. Allers. The rest qualifies him as a creep(which is bad enough), but that one's sexual assault. And if these reports are accurate, it's doubtful that's all there is to it.

The events described are mostly another Aziz Ansari situation where he thinks he's waaay smoother than he actually is, but if he really did tell her that she would never advance because she turned him down then that's waaay over the line into fucked up needs to be punished territory
