no. that seems pretty fucked up.

only thing I ever did was help or stand by (I can't remember which) while a friend tortured a garter snake. and I still feel bad about that.

I don't even know how you would.

Like, those fuckers are nimble.

How do you catch them to do it in the first place?

well I did catch a bee once in a jar. and then we put it in the freezer for like 5 minutes. it fell asleep and then we tied a string to it so we had a bee on a leash. I imagine you could do that with a fly too

I was helping a friend's aunt do some yardwork once, and she'd dug up some bushes & small trees root balls and all; as we were getting ready to load one into the truck, a baby copperhead dug its way out of the dirt. In any other case we would have let it go, but this was a residential neighborhood, so her son-in-law killed it with a shovel.

I read this and the first thing that went through my mind was "Feelin' like a bee on a leash".

It's not too hard. Once you catch one you just throw it against a table, floor or wall (hard) which will basically stun it. You can then remove the wings, legs, etc as you please. I'd suggest wings first so they can't get away.
