Kids, don't drink and craft Hearthstone decks. Or if you do, don't immediately just start playing them on ladder without looking first. Today, I played a Dead Mans Hand Dragon Mecha'thun Warrior with no discernible way to kill Mecha'thun the same turn that you play him. I also changed my Banana Mage by removing some of the cards until I no longer had enough random cards to finish the quest. Not sure if any of my 30 for 30 decks were changed yet or not.

I assume when you trigger the returning player bonus that it gives you some sort of drafting bonus in Arena? Because I just drafted what feels like a really strong rogue, possibly the strongest deck I've ever drafted although I know like none of the cards from the last 2 expansions so won't get 12 wins. I'm 4-1 now with my loss coming to a Linecracker as I wasn't expecting something like that so didn't have removal ready

I can't remember having to take any bad picks and most picks were like jesus christ these are all really good

Slapped together control discard quest warlock and crafted Jeklik just to clear a quest. Deck is fun as hell.

I don't think it's an essential craft unless you are building a synergy deck (either corpsetaker or a mech deck). But it's okish in a lot of decks.

Zilliax is just solid. On average hes deal about 6 damage, heal about 6 health for 5. Thats a good card.

Cant wait to play him more post rotation with Mechano-Egg Paladin. I think it will end up being stronger even post rotation. (Relatively)

Ziliax is essentially the only card that I run in just about every single deck (except even warlock). You don't even need synergy with it. I'd say it's the best craft of Boomsday.

Played a Shaman where Shudderwock barely factored into the outcome but who had the most annoying, unfun gameplan I've seen since Shudderwock.

The entire class is just garbage.

THoughts on the state of the game.

I know people are saying midrange is dead and that is largely true except for midrange decks that are helped by the ridiculousness of having a Genn hero power. Warlock, Shaman, and Paladin can be considered "midrange" to some extent but those decks just don't work without Genn.

The other deck that can kind of be considered Midrange are some hunter lists and that's because hunter cards are so overtuned and synergistic for their costs. Nevemind that can they transition into a control deck via one card. This is the same thing that happened to priest a while back. It was a trash class for a long time and it got cards like Operative, which everyone knew was OP but priest sucked so it didn't matter. But just a while later priest had several decks it could run.

Matchups are still incredibly polarizing and even decks that can tech effectively against one set severely hurt their matchups against others. For instance, a control warlock can win against Mechathun, control warrior (non quest), Topsy Priest (to an extent), and OTK paladin with extremely high win rates if they just put in Demonic Project and Rin (for the warrior). But this cripples their other matchups. Same with if they want to tech versus aggression by swapping some cards for shroom brewers. This usually means they are not running the other tech or silences (for even paladin, even warlock, DR hunter, and otk paladin). There are way too many matchups that just feel unwinnable unless you have certain cards in a list.

As for Arena.

Arena variance is too high right now. Warrior is way too strong. The average deck strength i'd also say varies too much. I had a 1-3 rogue with like some of the worst cards I've ever seen. The legendary rate is also too high. On average I believe you are offered one every 30 picks or so (maybe a little less than that) so there is on average like 1 per a deck. This is one card in everyones deck you just can't account for at all and it has the power to swing games you should have otherwise won. This is stupid.

The average deck strength I'd also say is too varied and deck strength is still too high overall because of the bucket system. Especially Warrior because they are consistently offered very strong cards. I think this is because Warrior has a slight bonus to their card strength because warrior has sucked in arena for a long time so they get a boost.

As Banana Mage, I matched up with a non-odd Mage who didn't play the quest on turn one. By turn three my hand had both copies of Arcane Intellect and Research Project, so I figured this game was going to end fast one way or the other. I play an AI and pass.

And then he plays two copies of Research Project, milling Simulacrum and both copies of Molten Reflection, and starts emoting constantly. Seems like he's playing the same thing, but either dumped the quest from his hand or is playing the non-quest variant. After about four turns of endless emotes to go along with me just trying to dump as much from my hand as I can, he leaves a Loot Hoarder up with nine cards. One ping later and his Antonidas is burned and he stops emoting for about ten seconds and concedes.

Kind of upset I didn't get to double Research Project myself and return the favor. Would have been fun to see if I could have manufactured some kind of a win out of what was left in my deck.

Seriously Jesus fuckin Christ what the fuck is hunter right now. Between Deathrattle, Secret, and Spell theyve got this dumbass meta gripped by the balls. Nothing feels stupider to play against than a Hunter who gets the high roll. Recruiting 8/8s with charge, making 12/12 on 5, its disgusting.

How did blizzard decide to nerf cards without considering SOMETHING of Hunter. Its not even January and Im fucking sick of seeing dumbass Rexxars stupid face.

Also yes, I salty. I got dunked on by the Deathrattle highroll.

I've won five games over the last two days with Flare, card feels like an auto include right now if you're also playing Hunter. One of them wasn't even against another Hunter, I got a Rogue who rustled up three secrets of their own and after Flare hit they just went afk.

I got a quest to play hunter, so I played some deathrattle hunter and...lost every game. Granted, I was having connection issues, so I would lag out and not complete a turn every once in a while (like maybe once every 10 turns) but its not like I was drawing poorly; plenty of Keleseth on 2 into Rexxar on 6.

So i was playing arena. 2-0 warrior. I queue into a Paladin. Now Paladin SUCKS in arena so I was expecting a player with a good deck. My deck is pretty good (2 crowly and dragon roar, lots of other rush... but only one of that 1/2 dude and no board clears and almost no weapons). Like it's a really good deck if I can somehow stabalize.

But this guys deck... or girl I don't know because the persons name was just a girls name (not an anime name, a normal name). FIVE LEGENDARIES. The one that converts HP into armor (which actually helped them heal over the limit), Carine, Ysera, Alex, The Lich King.

I won in fatigue. At one point I had like 40 armor. Like ALL of my taunts were at the top and ALL of my rush cards except for one was at the bottom. Supercolider was like the 22nd card and dragons roar was the 24th or so. It gave me a Ysera and that 3/7 hunter dragon.
