Today's poll was asking if you have ever gone to the midnight release of a game. It got me reminiscing about the one time that I did.

Back in 2011 my death metal band had the unique opportunity to play a live set at a Gamestop for the midnight release of Skyrim. Our guitarist's sister worked as a manager there and hooked it up. We do kind of an epic fantasy themed sound, so it was fitting.

To this day, that is still one of my favorite shows we've played. The people there actually seemed pretty entertained despite my growling the whole time. I think it was the novelty of the whole situation. I didn't know at the time that Skyrim would become one of my favorite games, so now it's a really cool memory.

Anyone else have some fun midnight release stories to share?

I also went to a midnight launch for skyrim. They didn't let us in the store.
I stood outside in line for the better part of 2 hours and it was 20 degrees.

Nah. Haven't needed a game so badly that I waited outside at night. Closest I got was waiting for a Wii ticket early in the morning at TrU. Then came back when they opened.

I love old school Castlevania! Favorite series.

We are definitely a bit more melodic with our riffs than your stereotypical death metal, with some black metal influence as well, but in general its the best descriptor for us I think. We are into a lot of melodic death/black metal like Amon Amarth, Immortal, At the Gates, Dissection etc.

We were using them as monitors as well, so they needed to be behind so we could hear them. Something tells me that, considering the size of the space, the audience could still hear it loud and clear haha

when they were releasing brawl they had a midnight tournament that me and a few friends went to, we assumed they'd be doing melee since brawl wasn't actually out yet, none of us had ever used a Wii controller before that so all of us got knocked out in the first round, playing a metal show at the Skyrim release sounds way cooler, brawl sucked

Well, I won't argue with you there. However, having them behind you will give you wicked feedback (among other things). Granted, if you're a screamer, I doubt that would matter too much. Hey, as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.

As long as I'm not like pointing the mic directly at the speakers, they never really give me any feedback issues.
