I think the problem is they've realized the coolest character in ST is Kylo Ren and there dancing around the fact that he's clearly become the main character and everyone else they've created for the ST is boring with no purpose

I LOVE TFA and liked all the Disney movies except for Solo btw

I like both of them and I feel like the trilogy is going the only way it could after the abominable prequels. It's been mostly safe, but TLJ had some good twists and unexpected turns. I feel that, despite the rough edges, it is closer to the originals than critics of the sequel trilogy will ever want to admit.

I don't really feel attached to any of the new characters

I can't fathom being a fan of the series and completely losing interest because of TLJ. Did everyone get shown a different movie than me? Is this all an internetwide prank? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I thought TFA was just okay

TLJ wasn't so bad that I was upset I spent money to see it, but it was really really stupid and kind of boring.

I'll probably see Episode IX, but like...I'm not holding my breath. It kind of helps that I got out of my "hardcore" star wars period when I was a kid so like the movie being stupid as fuck doesn't destroy my life or anything.

tc if you're genuinely interested in perspective, i'd recommend redlettermedia's half in the bag and plinkett videos on The Last Jedi. they're awfully articulate and perceptive as to why it rubbed people the wrong way

Also the mauler videos if some one wants a more detail description of how the movie just fails as a movie.

I liked TFA and Rogue One. TFA played it safe sure but set alot of new interesting stuff in motion. TLJ took all that stuff in motion, threw it under a bus, and then told us to forget the past because the present is an awful movie. Havent seen solo because all my interest was killed by TLJ.

I've enjoyed fucking Solo more than either of the two main movies.

Rian Johnson is a fucking hack, not sure if anything they do in Episode 9 can redeem it

So much this, TFA is actually my current favorite star wars movie. TLJ ruines a hell of a lot. The most irredeemable thing ia that it was carrie fiahers last movie and they fucked it up. We dont get any redo's.

Agreed 100% with @Hairistotle on the empty feeling

I know it sounds dumb, but I've been a star wars fan for my whole life, grew up watching the movies with my dad, etc. So a lot was riding on this.

TFA was weak but it at least had that hype of being the first SW movie in like a decade so I gave it a pass. TLJ on the other hand ruined my interest in the franchise in it's current state.

Besides the film shit like pacing and dialogue, my biggest complaints were the lack of scale, world building, overall imagination, and that I never was given a real reason to like or care about any characters besides that they are written as the heroes.

When I left the theater it wasn't like i watched a bad star wars movie, it felt like some other bad movie I would have never seen if it didn't have tar wars in the title.

George lucas at least put hia heart and soul into the product and actually tried extending it. Maybe it didnt work but he tried to make a star wars extention. This movie was made with only serving the creators agenda and not on making the universe. TFA at least had heart and everyone enjoyed being back. The set had issues during this movie, which wasn't present during TFA. It was everythinf in how the movie waa handled that ruffles my feathers. Betheada is ruffling my feathers for the way their treating customers.

same and Ive only seen it digitally on like a 20 screen. it really felt like the true fulfillment of the Star Wars mythos in many ways, for me at least.

i actually see this

in the prequels despite how gutter trash they were there was lots of cool stuff within the universe that was expanded on in video games and the tv shows

there's really no equivalent for the new movies
