Fans started making this noise a month or so ago.

What do I do about this?

1) are you sure thats your gpu?
2) that is definitely a fan noise.

Check all your fans, hold them in place while they run to see which one is causing it. The fins are either brushing up against something or there is dirt in the bearing that is causing the noise.

Yes I am sure it is a fan of my GPU.
I unplugged all the other fans the other day (except for my heatsink) and the noise was still there.
It also only happens while playing games, and when my GPU fans are actually spinning (according to Open Hardware Monitor).

It's just dirty. Take it apart and clean it. Good luck pulling the fan off of the motor without breaking it, though. Some fans are easier than others to take apart.

I wouldn't recommend this to beginners but the method I use is to just take the fan blade and the motor (separated) and run them under hot tap water. You'll usually see a bunch of filthy water for a few seconds. The next part is the most important part, you have to rinse it off with distilled water and then soak it for a bit in some more distilled water. Dry it in front of a fan for at least a few hours, then put a tiny bit of oil (WD40 is usually fine) on the parts that make contact between the two pieces (not directly on the magnetic part).

I've fixed dozens of fans in numerous devices doing this. If it still makes noise then the plastic has probably worn down in a bad spot and there's nothing you can do but replace it.

I should also say that I have yet to actually take out my GPU to look at it yet cause I am lazy. Will probably do that in the coming days.

No reason to unplug the fans. Just put your finger on the center of them to stop them and figure out which one it is. Now figure out which gpu fan it is. You most likely have 2 or 3 fans. Stop each one to figure it out.

Don't worry guys I figured it out.

One of the fans kept hitting against a cable going to my HDD.
I somehow didn't see that the last time I looked in there, but spotted it this time.
Moved the cable, and we're good to go!
