Almost all of these pics are from the 90s but you could drop these kids in any hip city bar today and they would not look the least bit out of place.

In summary, regular guys must wear fairly conservative menswear with classic haircuts or face ridicule. Artists, musicians and otherwise unemployed people can dress ironically or in vintage. And finally people who are very very famous can wear whatever the hell they want and make it cool for whatever reason, because they get to decide what that means.

It hasn't ever changed tbh

I dunno, Ive found the good fitting collared shirt with sleeves short enough to show my arms/top buttons undone + good fitting pants to show of my mass with clean shoes seems to transcend decades.

Nobody over 25 should give half a shit about "cool" so you're doing fine.

Classic cut menswear hasn't really gone anywhere in nearly 70 years bar a few minor alterations here and there. At the same time that can get a little boring day in day out. At least it does for me.

This hasn't been the case in northern NJ since the late aughts. As long as you dress right for work, it doesn't even matter what you dress like outside of it. Hair can be anything. Pajamas were popular for a while.

I'm glad you say that because CE gives me the impression that wearing anything other than a standard dress shirt when you're over 25 is a problem in America

Fair enough. Pretty much it seems like the key is dress for your body type.

Turns out your parents weren't wrong about a lot of the things they said. It's odd to hang onto defiance for the sake of defiance well into adulthood.

from the 90s

This is actually because real fashion doesn't change that much in such a short time.

Go watch Dirty Harry or something and see how many balloon afros or parachute bell bottoms you see.

The average person walking around in pretty much any decade since like the 50's wouldn't look that out of place today. Especially if they're wearing a normal suit they would wear to the office.

Well I guess I should say men's fashion.

Gay guys also have a free pass to dress how they please.
