I'm thinking about asking for Red Dead 2 and a Playstation Classic (since I read that it's pretty much already been hacked, which was my major holdout on buying it originally). Maybe a Switch? I dunno, I tend to game on my PC more often than my PS4, but Smash Bros has me wildin' right now... other than that, probably just some button down shirts or some pants.

What kinda stuff are ya'll asking for?

I need a new laptop but that's too much to ask for. I asked my close family for money hoping I might get enough for half to cut the cost down. A friend already bought me an acrtis pro headset but we have to return it since it won't work properly with xbox.

Honestly, not much. Better relationships among my family members. A raise in my hourly wage so I can better provide for myself and my future. Release weekend ticket to Avengers: End Game. Dating advice/help since I'm clueless and ignorant to flirtation until after the moment has passed.

Honestly. Nothing. Mostly because of that feeling of when I get a gift for someone, there's that concern if I my gift was of equal or more value compared to what they gave me. I don't mind being on the "losing end" of the exchange but I don't want the giftee to be on the "losing end".

I am a grown ass adult, I don't get Christmas presents anymore. I might buy myself Smash, but I am not really itching for a new game to play right now so probably not until sometime in 2019.

But that's mostly because I'm too lazy to buy a new one.

I've been wanting to replace my Logitech G110 keyboard with their K800 wireless keyboard for the longest time. But I'm hard-pressed to allow myself to spend $60-100 when my current keyboard is still working just fine. Though I guess if my work keyboard ever dies on me, that might be an excuse to get a new keyboard.

I'm the same way, the rubber bits are all falling off, the keyboard is scratched up as fuck, it's disgusting as fuck.
But hey, it's fine, they keys work most of the time.

Gifts are also an excuse for someone to buy something that you want, but don't want to pay for.

I don't think there's anything sad about that. To some, Christmas, birthdays, or anniversaries are almost a "forced" obligation to do something nice or gift someone with something. Personally someone saying "I saw this on sale and thought you'll find it useful" at some random time in the year means more to me than someone making a purchase just for a birthday or Christmas. At least with the former they did it outside of such obligation plus they managed to get it on sale which is always a good thing.

I'm a grown ass adult. I don't ask for anything buy my mom gets me shit anyways. Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to just give in and pick something when she asks what I want.

Though I told her long ago if she insists on getting me something money or booze is always acceptable. And socks but she's gonna buy me those anyways. Been getting that for Christmas every damn year since I was a kid. Funny as a kid you hate it. As a an adult you like it because with all the other things going on new socks tend to be low priority.

We do, but most of us just go out and buy whatever we want. I mean, I'd love to get a new car, but I'm sure as hell not going to ask my family for it.

That's sort of why I told people not to get me anything years ago. It essentially creates an awkward situation where I'm being punished more than rewarded in any meaningful way.

When I want something, I buy it. So someone getting me a gift either has to get me something I don't actually want (which means I won't enjoy the gift, and will likely wind up getting rid of it somehow), or they have to get me something I DO want, but then tell me they got it so I go go out and buy it myself, at which point all they're really "giving" me is a forced waiting period before I can have the thing I want.

This is the point where people usually say things like "But sentimental gifts!" or "It's supposed to be the thought that counts!", but I've never really felt like you need tangible gifts to show sentimentality anyway, and I actually dislike the idea that birthdays or Christmas are the only time you can show affect to a person, so I'd rather give useful gifts to friends and family just whenever if I see something specific I know they'll want, and not feel compelled to buy them things solely because pop culture says I have to.

(It also doesn't help that I don't celebrate Christmas at all, so I have zero interest in gifts related to it.)

Sometime around when I was 20 or so my stance basically became "My gift to you is the money you save by not buying me a gift, and your gift to me is the same in reverse. As adults saving time, money, and stress is actually the best possible gift any of us can give to one another."

I still occasionally get presents for my friends' kids because they're still young and Christmas is still an important thing to them, but I tend to think that birthdays and Christmas should mostly be for kids and adults should grow out of it as a "WAAAH, I WANT PRESENTS!" sort of holiday.

Yeah back when I was working fast food overheard a customer talking about being stressed over buying adult family members gifts due to everyone being judged over who bought the best/most expensive gift. Wondered why they put themselves through that. How about you take the money you'd spend on me and buy yourself something and I'll do the same.

Both my parents are essentially retired, I am not going to make them spend money they don't need to. As for girlfriend, I would tell her not to anyways and if she insisted I would prefer she just give a charitable donation in my name or something.

my sister asked what I wanted, showed her a wolf lamp from the Bradford exchange, so I might be getting that, whatever else I receive that day will be fine.

but I recently started a collection of them for nostalgia, Battle Beasts are something i'd enjoy getting for gifts (with rub and weapon). but i'm probably better off getting a few at a time from ebay

Oh shit, I haven't thought about Battle Beasts in years.

I just looked them up on a website; I know for a fact I had Triple Threat Snake, Killer Carp, and Harrier Hawk, but those are the only ones I remember.

Not much this year, I have a dozen games on my Steam Wishlist where I may buy half of them.
I recently purchased an RTX 2070 and have no parts I need to upgrade
I don't really need a new Keyboard / Mouse
I kinda want to get a Steam controller.

idk what else there is.

You sure are acting like one.

I've been using Christmas for the past decade to more or less buy things that I would not normally buy the rest of the year, usually just some Steam games.

Always try to get my parents things to help them out. This year I've been debating a new car and an ice maker but they won't accept my charity.

Exactly. Word for word. I feel weird getting adult family presents as Ive been sort of gearing to practical gifts. Need a newer water bottle for work thats compliant with work drink policies? I got you fam. Youre getting a yeti water bottle. If you dont want something in particular, amazon gift cards. Get whatever you want since idhafc.
